By the time Don Giacomo ended the call, my body was rigid with anger and my fists were clenched.
The bloody war was fucking on, and I was ready to kill.
"What's wrong?" Niamh asked, a look of fear and confusion dominating her features.
I looked at her, keeping my voice cool. "Nothing you should worry about. You and Matteo are safe here."
Her eyes flashed with anger at my evasiveness and she opened her mouth to say something, but I gave her my back immediately, making it clear I was done talking.
"Let's go," I said to Andrej, and he gave a quick nod as we headed for the exit.
As we headed for the exit, Dario—used to being my escort—made a move to follow us but stopped immediately, as if realizing he had a new duty.
I turned around to face him and stepped into his space, fixing him with my coldest stare.
