Liam sat on the cold metal bench in the small park he'd come across after fleeing the battle that had just happened. He relaxed his shoulders a bit, leaned his back, and let his gaze wander down the stone path in front of him.

He started thinking, calmly searching for a realistic solution to an unrealistic situation.

New world, system, quests, permanent death... and all of that while he was hungry, tired, and wearing a torn shirt.

Minutes passed with him like that, until his silence was interrupted.

Lea spoke in a calm, official tone: "I apologize, Master Liam, but you must allocate your available stat points."

Liam exhaled slowly, then said without lifting his head: "Bring up the window... I can't think about all this at once."

The blue window appeared before him calmly, glowing softly in front of his eyes. He stared at it, at the numbers, at the words that now represented his very body. Just six points... a small number, but right now it meant the difference between randomness and control.

He rested his elbows on his knees, clasped his fingers together, and began analyzing like he always did.

Strength? Later. Health? Good enough for now. But Intelligence... was already the highest. And that wasn't by chance.

He muttered to himself: "If I'm going to survive here... I need to understand before I fight."

With a calm decision, he put two points into Intelligence.

The moment he did, he felt something subtle, barely noticeable. Like a fog that had been covering part of his thoughts had partially lifted. His thoughts didn't become superhuman, but they were... cleaner. Faster.

Then he added one point to Skill.

He didn't know what he'd be facing, but he knew he wouldn't survive on strength alone.

Three points remained. He hesitated a moment, then distributed two points to Flexibility, saying to himself: "I need good physical fitness to survive," and put the last point where he felt it was least important now - into Strength.

He didn't feel energy rushing through him, or bones breaking. Just a subtle feeling of his muscles tightening, like his body had woken from a short sleep, and like his mind had become more aware of what was around him. A simple difference... but real.

He closed the window, and only then noticed a smoking hot dog cart.

To remember his hunger.

He put his hand on his stomach and let out a short, lifeless laugh.

"Great... even in another world, can't escape this."

He lifted his head slightly and said: "Lea, how do I withdraw money from the system?"

The reply came directly: "After opening the stats window, open the inventory section. You'll find the currency value at the bottom right. Double-click it, then withdraw the amount you want."

He executed what she told him precisely and withdrew just thirty dollars. A digital confirmation appeared then vanished after a moment.

Thirty dollars.

Enough for a simple hot dog, a bottle of water, and juice.

Enough to keep him standing today.

Liam was walking away from the hot dog cart slowly, chewing the last bite like it was a rare treasure.

The taste was simple, greasy, ordinary... yet he felt it like he hadn't tasted food in a whole month. The slight warmth that crept into his body from the food brought him back for a moment to the feeling of life, to something familiar in the midst of this madness. He walked without hurrying, his eyes half-closed, enjoying the brief moment where he forgot about the rain, the city, and death.

Then came Lea's voice.

"Notification of two quests."

Liam stopped one step, and said in a normal tone, his mouth full: "Go ahead."

A familiar blue window appeared before him, but the words it carried weren't familiar at all.

Daily Quest Title: No Rest Without a Home Required: Find shelter near you Reward: – 400 Experience Points – $1000 Penalty: Complete paralysis for 8 consecutive hours Time Limit: 10 hours

Liam choked on the bite in his mouth.

He coughed hard, bent over slightly, and hit his chest with his hand while trying to catch his breath. His eyes turned red, and his voice came out broken as he gasped:

"C... complete paralysis?! Eight... eight hours and a ten-hour deadline?!"

He raised his head expecting a reply, a comment, even cold mockery from Lea...

But she didn't answer.

Instead, the blue window disappeared.

And in the next moment, another window appeared.

Its color wasn't blue this time, but dark crimson, like the color of old blood. Its size was larger, its edges heavier, and on its sides were drawn two facing skulls, empty-eyed. Just looking at it made the air around him feel heavier.

Exceptional Quest

Liam read the title and felt something in his chest start to collapse slowly.

Required: Save the planet Thanagar from the invasion of Darkseid's army Time Remaining: 732 days

Liam froze in place.

He no longer heard the street.

Even his own breathing seemed like it had stopped halfway.
