Chapter 1 - chapter 1: reincarnation?

Thump. thump.

The sound I hear as I walk down the dark and empty street. Then I heard a ping.

"Huh? I got a notification now?" I said questioningly as I reached my hand down to grab my phone from my pocket.

Then suddenly—"AHHHH..."

I heard a scream that lasted only a moment before going quiet. "Huh? What is it?" I said, scared as I looked around the area. I look to my left behind me and saw nothing, then my right, still nothing.

"What the hell is going on?" I thought quietly to myself while shivering from the fright.

I turn back and kept on walking without looking back. I lightly pinch my cheek as I walk to hopefully keep myself awake using the stingy feeling on my cheek.

Click, the sound of the door opening. I quickly walk inside and then click; the door is closed, another click, this time the door is locked.

I quickly walked to the living room and throw my jacket I had just taken off onto the couch.

"Ah man," I murmur to myself as I sit down. "Have I been working too hard lately?" I asked myself.

"I don't think like I have the energy to make some food." I thought to myself before drifting off—eyes closed—not a sounds in the world.

Chirp, chirp—I heard as I woke up to the ray of sunlight flashing before my eyes.

"Huh?" I thought "what is it now? How are there sunlight and bird chirping?" I thought while frantically looking around the room despite my vision still being blurry.

As my vision cleared up, I saw was an enormous room covered with many intricate patterns made of gold on the walls and even the ceiling that featured a gold chandelier.

"This isn't my room." I thought as I try to make out the words but I realized I couldn't say a word.

From "This isn't my room." To "Where am I?" I thought helpless as I tried to make them into words that would come out of my mouth and yet nothing came out.

Before long, I started feeling more helpless before I started screaming at the top of my lung.

"AHHHHHHHHH."

The sound came out loud as day and immediately the door to the room burst open and many people rushed inside.

"There there, little one." The woman said as she picked me up and rock me in her arm.

"AHHHHHHHH." Those are all the only sounds that I could mutter with my mouth.

Eventually that scream faded away.

I look up and see the face of the woman holding me—beautiful face, black hair, silky white skin and more.

She's look like a goddess who came all the way from heaven.

I then look around and saw many other women all around us dressed in traditional maid outfit smiling at us.

"Could they be who I think they might be?" I thought to myself despite knowing full well they were the maids of the woman holding me.

I kept on thinking about my surroundings and then it clicked—I've been reincarnated.

"Did I died in my sleep?" "Has I been that exhausted from work?" Those thoughts came flooding in but luckily I managed to keep them under control and remain calm.

"Okay, okay. That's enough looking and back to reality" I told myself in my mind.

I look at my surroundings once more and concluded that I have been reincarnated as evident by the crib I was just picked up from.

I look back up and see the face of the woman who's still rocking me back an forth with a smile.

"I see. So she must be my mother then." I concluded.

"And this place must be my new home now..." I thought while my memory flash back to the surroundings even though I could see those surroundings with just a glance.

"Could I be a noble? There's no way I'm a noble—my life or my previous life has been nothing but hell, so there's no way I could be this luck." I thought to myself.

But then my mind was starting to go blank again.

My eyes finally close on their own and eventually I feel my body being put back onto something soft and warm.

I tried my best to maintain consciousness but I was no match at all and I fully drifted off back to sleep.

Looking at the sleeping baby, the woman and her maid sigh quietly before they slowly make their way out of the room.
