Chapter 15 - I killed hope

Melon's bedroom was the biggest room Norlan had ever seen, a vast expanse of polished floor and high, vaulted ceilings that made his own humble quarters on earth feel like a closet.

With a bed large enough to fit ten human adults, its surface was a sea of silken cushions and embroidered throws, a monument to sheer, overwhelming comfort.

A tea table was beside the bed, and about 2 metres away from it. Made up of a low slab of dark, polished wood inlaid with mother-of-pearl.

On the other side of the chamber was a huge dressing area comprised of multiple compartments filled with neat rows of makeup materials, gowns made of shimmering fabric, delicate bottles of perfume, and jewelry that sparkled even in the soft light.

Norlan took another look around the room, his gaze traveling over tapestries, a unlit marble fireplace, and shelves holding curious artifacts.

Still shocked from the grandure, he made heavy, echoing steps to sit across from the goddess at the waiting table.

"Firstly, before i begin to explain what you can do for me, I want to make it clear why I want to kill a god. Although I may not get into much deeper details. I Know that the karma associated is too overbearing for you, but i will try my best to convey my intentions. But

To begin with, there are two types of gods. One is..." Norlan fainted. After all, why was he, a mortal, listening to universal secrets?

"Oh, my fault,my fault. I actually forgot that he's just a mortal." Said melon as she hurriedly reached out to Norlan, slowly covering him in her aura.

"Weird, even I forgot." The goddess admitted.

This was a rookie mistake. These two didn't know what overcame them today to make such a mistake. Especially Melon, who had subordinates that she usually protected before sharing such secrets now and again.

"Is he really that charming?" Melon asked out loud, causing both of them to look at Norlan's ordinarly handsome face.

"It must be the hair. Are we really that into wavy hair?"

"Now that you spoke of it, I have been having the urge to pet his hair ever since he showed up. Is that weird?"

"Of course not. I have the same urge. Or are you calling me weird?"

"Not at all my lady. You're not weird."

The two lost their solemn expression and excitedly pulled Norlan between them, ruffling his hair. It was a fun whole minute for them, until Norlan showed signs of waking. Melon's aura seemed to have done the trick.

They looked at each other,as if talking telepathically. Melon removed her aura and Aurelia spoke some words.." Celestial gods and New Genesis gods.." Norlan fainted again.

"Are we taking advantage of him?" The two looked at each other then shrugged their shoulders as Melon shoved Norlan's head into Aurelia's twin peeks. If only Norlan was awake.

Aurelia blushed, sending Melon a certain look.

"He seemed to like those. Also, now no one can say we shortchanged him. Eeer, why are you blushing? Could it be..."

"Stop talking nonsense. I can't control myself, his touch made me a mortal." Her eyes lowered to Norlan's head on her boobs.

"Whatever.." Shrugged Melon as she placed her face to smell Norlan's hair.

The goddess also smiled as she petted his hair, her blush never fading. She did not look like a goddess at all. And that fact remained so untill they were satisfied. They placed Norlan on her own seat and they competed as to whom would have the chance to cover Norlan's body with their aura. The goddess won.

Norlan woke up shortly, his hair a mess.

"What happened? " He asked with confusion.

"We are sorry,we forgot to protect you. Normally, you would have directly died but since you have shared karma with my Lady, you survived."

Norlan didn't know how to respond to that. Since when could just learning about a few sentences cause one's death? It seemed that although he seemed to be taking the changes very well, it seemed that he was still a greenhorn when compared to the universe. So he just nodded, prompting Aurelia to continue.

Assuming that he was now protected.

"As I was saying, there are two types of gods, Celestial gods and New Genesis gods. Since it would not be wise for me to elaborate,I'll go straight to the point.

The god am seeking vengeance against is actually my twin brother. Unlike other normal New Genesis gods, myself and my brother were among the few gods that were born as gods and conferred dominion by the Celestial Tower of providence.

There were once only 13 such gods, and we were conferred the name Celestial gods.

Each of us was given authority and dominion over various concepts that dictated the foundation of the laws and inner workings of the realm Aldera. We were the strongest of the gods, but that was also our flaw.

We could not get stronger !

You see, we were all born different, our authority over certain concepts guiding our personalities in different ways. Each of us gaining distinct quirks and personal preferences.

For a while, we all tolerated each other. Accepting each other's flaws.

Untill everything changed.

The first mortal ever to be born in the realm ascended to godhood.

His name was Tehrain, and he ascended into godhood with the personification of doubt. Gaining anchorage and power everytime a living being doubts himself or doubts others.

At first we were glad, glad to have a new companion. My brother even gifted him his own essence. And following the example,we all offered to support him, making the granting of our essence a sacred ritual to all the New Genesis gods. That was the biggest mistake we ever did.

Mostly because some of us became weak after giving out too much essence.

Now you must be wondering why we would do such a stupid thing. The only answer I can give you is that we,too, were also young at some point. Some of us still are. At least at some of our quirks are still childish."

Aurelia paused as if to allow Norlan to absorb what she just said. Then she continued.

"Hope was the dominion of the second New Genesis god. Envy was the third and Love, gluttony,Lust, wrath, pride, and many more followed as the times went.

This period is known as the golden age of gods. And it ended the moment that the seeds of envy and doubt encroached my brother's heart via subtle efforts of Tehrain and other New Genesis gods.

And that was only the beginning. After my brother became the fuel of power for the New Genesis gods,it set a precedent.

The other New Genesis gods noticed that Tehrain had become stronger. They followed the breadcrumbs and began hunting the few Celestial gods with numbers.

That was also their mistake.

Celestial gods were not Celestial gods just for show. We wielded dominion over many powerful primordial Authorities and the New Genesis gods were mistakened to underestimated us.

They all died. Every single one of them.

But even as they all died, their dominions and authority did not fade. Instead, they acclimated with whom killed the last holder.

My brother killed Tehrain and his pantheon.

From then on, doubt became part of him, envy became part of him, wrath became part of him, gluttony became part of him and pride made him the strongest of the Celestial gods.

The feeling of getting stronger intoxicated him and he made dangerous decisions.

Yet there were no New Genesis gods. They were all dead.

So where do you think he set his eyes on?"

Norlan's eye's dilated as he looked at Aurelia. Aurelia nodded.

"Don't get ahead of yourself, however much pride my brother had, he was not stupid. He could not take on all of us alone.

Because of that he resorted to scheming. Factions began to form amongst ourselves. And we kept New Genesis gods as cattle, slaughtering them to become stronger. However, this way of becoming stronger however did not last.

The Celestial Tower of providence created a law that made us unable to absorb new dominions after reaching what we called, divine saturation.

That did not stop my brother. His insatiable gluttony got the better of him,and his faction attacked my younger brothers faction. Killing him mercilessly."

A hint of regret could be seen from Aurelia's face. Norlan's heart broke. And it broke even more as he heard her continue.

"My brother's act of killing made the other factions filled with urgency. It made them restless as they knew that with his new found strength, he could possibly target anyone of them." Aurelia too a breath, chuckling as she continued.

"This would be the point where you ask if we ganged up of him, right?

We did not. Doubt had already taken root when we all chose sides and formed our factions( Pantheons ).

And since we could not trust each other,we schemed against each other. We fought against each other, our Pantheons of gods fought against each other and a never ending cycle of violence was the final product.

To tell the truth,we all hated him, we hated the person he became and I, especially loathed him the most, since he was my twin.

We were the only pair amongst our celestial siblings. We were linked in ways others could not imagine. We shared the same sorrow, the same happyness, the same joy, hate and many other feelings. And that, made me loathe him even more.

This loathing was more pronounced when he devowered my brothers. I could feel his greed everytime he killed one of them. I could feel his insatiable gluttony while he still fed on New Genesis gods even when he had reached saturation.

And most of all, I could feel his desire to own me, his desire to feed on me, his desire...his desire to become one with the person he was most close to.

And so we fought.

And I ripped out our bond mercilessly as I escaped from him. I hid for 64 million years. Hiding in desperatiom,Plotting, creating my pantheon all over again and seeking revenge.

We fought again,I lost, this time stripped of almost all my authorities and dominion. I had become nothing but a shell.

I would have given up,but in the battle of Celestial and New Genesis gods,...

I killed hope."
