Chapter 2 - Disappointing

I can see the judgemental look on both of the guards faces as they observe me for a moment.

My clothes probably don't look great but wouldn't others have weird clothes too? I doubt that I'm the only one here with a strange outfit.

"Go on inside," The Guard says.

I walk past them and onto the main streets of the kingdom, it is quite magnificent to see. It is probably one of the most lively places I've ever been to.

Stands as far as the eye can see, different races of people, and a giant statue of the king in the center.

Did the king have a statue in the game originally? I don't quite remember that being the case but I guess that's something new to take note of.

I'm sure everything won't be the same since the mind works in mysterious ways.

Everything about this place feels insanely real though which is the scariest part about the whole thing. Trying to stay calm is also hard when I can't seem to wake up.

Probably best to just keep pushing forward for the time being.

I begin to make my way through the crowded streets as I observe everything around me. People are definitely staring at me, wondering why I am dressed the way I am.

It is strange that I have this much attention on me when other heroes have also been summoned to this world.

There is also some sort of weird circular icon in the right side of my vision but it might not be a big deal. I continue onward until I make it to the statue of the king in the center of the kingdom.

"Mommy I want to be a hero one day!"

"Of course, it is a good dream kiddo."

"I'll make it come true!"

A kid and his mom are ahead of me looking at the statue, but is it really that inspiring?

The king is wearing some armor, a crown on his head, and a sword in his right hand.

The statue seems kind of bland in my opinion. Could've had a dragon or something underneath him to make him seem more like a hero.

Whatever, not my statue to worry about anyway. I've got to see what this summoning is all about since that is the most important thing here.

I continue to make my way through the streets until I finally reach a staircase that leads all the way up to the keep. Guards don't seem to be surprised by me now that I have made it this far.

After a minute or two I make it to the top and take one look back towards the city. It is definitely quite a sight to take in after making it all the way up here.

But what really took my attention is the view beyond the kingdom walls. The distant mountains, the fields I came from, and even the bright, almost glowing forest.

"It is beautiful," I say softly.

"Are you heading inside?" A guard asks.

I turn my attention back towards the door.

"Of course," I answer before walking forward.

The door opens up to a giant hall with guards lined up along each pillar with a variety of different weapons. In the distance I can see the king sitting on his throne with people filling the room.

I don't see a reason to waste time so I make my way into the main room where I find a few other people standing there waiting.

Each of them seem to have armor already and some weapons.

This is disappointing. Am I really the only one who doesn't look the part right now?

My brain kind of feels like it missed the memo with this whole dream, what the hell?!?! Surely this is just part of the whole process here and I'm going to be given my own set of armor as well.

"Who is this guy?"

"I don't know, maybe he snuck inside."

"I thought all the heroes were summoned already."

The voices around the room are definitely quite unpleasant to hear but maybe the king will clear everything up.

His gaze falls onto me, a look of disgust is all I can see.

"Are you a hero?" He asks with a serious tone.

"Hahaha, is that a joke? Yes I'm a hero," I answer with a laugh.

Murmurs begin to go about the room.

"Did he just laugh at the king?"

"He did, this guy is crazy."

"How could he just do that."

Okay, now I'm getting a bit annoyed with the people in here. I don't think it is bad for someone to laugh nervously in a new place where everything is unfamiliar.

These other guys must've had a laugh or some sort of awkward interaction as well... I'm positive that it isn't just me acting like this here.

"I think he was summoned by the demon lord," A man chimes in from my left.

Looking to my left I can see a man wearing all silver armor with a cloak that goes down to his feet. Nice fur along the top of his shoulders and these strange rings around his wrists.

"You might be right Sorakami," another person says in agreement.

Wait—

"Then it would be best to execute him here," The King speaks with a serious expression on his face.

Why are they all jumping on me out of nowhere like this...? I thought we were all summoned here if anything. If this isn't a dream... I don't understand why else I'd be here.

"I—

"No need to speak. We'll kill you and get on with our mission," Sorakami interrupts me before I can speak.

Why do I have to die? I didn't even get a chance to plead my case to anyone here... Not even the damn king is giving me a chance to speak.

All of them are just looking at me like I'm some sort of filth that wandered in from the streets. Like I am directly here from this demon lord.

It is a load of—
