Chapter 7: The Birth
Ava's world narrowed as contractions intensified. Her mother and medical staff rushed her to the delivery room. The pain was overwhelming, but Ava focused on bringing her child into the world.
Finally, the moment arrived. Ava held her newborn daughter in her arms, feeling an overwhelming rush of love. The baby's first cry filled the room, and Ava's heart swelled.
But as she gazed into her daughter's eyes, Ava sensed something... off. A feeling she couldn't quite explain. The nurses and doctors seemed to be watching her, their expressions guarded.
Catherine approached, her eyes shining with tears. "Let me hold her," she whispered, her voice trembling. Ava hesitated, feeling a sudden sense of unease.
As Catherine cradled the baby, Ava noticed her mother's gaze lingering on the child's hands. Ava's heart skipped a beat. What was going on?
"What's wrong, Mom?" Ava asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Catherine's expression turned somber. "Nothing, dear. She's just... perfect."
