RIta's Point Of View
I blinked against the sharp, aggressive rays of morning sunlight streaming through the heavy glass window. The golden light sliced across my face, blinding me before I could fully open my eyes.
A low, pathetic groan escaped my lips as I threw my forearm over my forehead to block the glare. "Close the fucking curtains," I mumbled into the plush pillow, my voice thick and raspy from sleep.
When silence answered me, I yawned loudly and forced my aching body up onto my elbows. The silk sheets slipped down around my waist as I stretched my arms high above my head, my joints cracking in the quiet room. I finally blinked the sleep away and turned my head toward the edge of the bed.
I screamed, my heart leaping straight into my throat.
