Chapter 17 - Grunge tried to kill The Metal

Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha I can't believe we found it. I plan to leave the holy grail of weapon materials to James. He and his parents actually know how to forge items, and they'll make good use of it. I had to explain to James what makes this vibranium so special, as he only watched the movies.

I explained that this one was different from the one found in Wakanda. The one in Wakanda has mystical properties and primarily rebounds kinetic energy by vibrating it back out. This one has another name, anti-metal. Its vibrations liquefy all metal that isn't vibranium. Its contact or close proximity is perfect for nullifying armor. Cutting through Wolverine's claws would be easy. The only known counters in the MCU I know of are Capt.'s shield and most Wakandan tech. It does, however, absorb the vibrations from Wakanda vibranium. Basically, they are perfect counters to each other. In the field of metals in Marvel Uru is the best for using mytic abilities, Mysterium for countering mystic abilities, Adamantium is the hardest, Wakanda Vibranium makes for some of the best defense for its counterattacking properties. I always believed this particular metal makes for the best offense. We laughed at the thought of the look on Tony Stark's face if his suit touched this metal.

So here we are standing before the motherlode of antimetal. James, ever the curious one, threw a quarter at the ore and watched it liquefy as it hit the ore. He whistled and said, "Well, how the hell do we get it out? Should I start using my stronger flying sword slashes? We can't exactly use a pickaxe right? There goes the dwarf fantasy."

"As much as I would love to do that as well, I mean singing some songs from Return to Moria and Wind Rose would be fun. No, that would take forever. You could use portals, or I can do this."

I started teleporting bits of ore off. Vanisher's powers are so convenient. I laugh and start singing

"I am a Dwaf, and I'm teleporting some ore."

James laughs and joins in with portals, "Teleporting some ore!"

We got as my old life as a cook would say a metric fuckton. We portaled all of it back to the training grounds, making sure not to let it touch any of the countless metal objects, especially careful around his mom's arsenal.

"Ok, that was awesome, but how the heck do we make this into anything? Can't exactly use our smithing tools on it, let alone setting it on a metal anvil, we can't even use tongs to get it out of the fire and grip it."

"Well, you can do the crude way... Melt it in stone vessels and pour it into a stone mould. Or we go on another adventure, and find ourselves some Wakandian Vibranium and coat your tools with it."

"So we raid Wakanda?"

"Hah! Now that would be interesting. We could propose a trade with them with this ore, though. We could also sneak in. I may have accidentally created the ultimate thieving powerset. We could even see if Cipher wants in, or we could hire her. There are two other sources we could try, though, Ulysses Klau and Talokan."

"So raid one of two highly advanced kingdoms or a criminal? I say we raid the criminal, no need to bring in outside help either. How much does he have?'

"Well, you felt how light that ore was, right? He stole a quarter ton. How much does he have left? Who the hell knows, but if we do this, he'll either have to get more, or we would be depriving the world of Vision."

"Well, we could chance it. Vision here didn't do much, but it became the catalyst for Wanda's madness. We could easily help out in Sokovia or maybe even take down Ultron beforehand. Or Ultron finds Vibranium elsewhere... Or we just don't let Ultron happen."

"Well, his plan would definitely change. He used it to fuel that anti-grav device, too, right? Ultron did help temper Stark's hubris, though not by much. Guy always believes he is the smartest guy in the room. Funny, as soon as I am in range, all his expertise is mine, but I still wouldn't think I'm the smartest. I shudder at all the atrocities the "smart guys" do, especially Reed, the actual smartest guy."

"So what do you propose?"

"While there are other caches around the world, it would take forever to seek them out. You are thinking too small; you forget we can travel through dimensions and across the universe. We have several options! We could try Knowhere; it'll be expensive, but we could trade for it. Maybe the collector has some hell, definitely be interested in the antimetal. We could also get a map and loof for Torfa, which I'm pretty sure I found in one of my travels."

"What's Torfa?"

"The other planet known to have vibranium. It's at the edge of the Spartax Empire."

"I don't know that's a whole planet of looking for something that could be anywhere. If we had something that could scan for it, maybe you could at least have a general area you wanted to look in the Savage Lands. That and we knew we would see some dinos."

"So what do you propose?"

"Either we raid Klaue, and we can just make sure to help against Ultron, or we wait until we can make connections with Black Panther."

"Well, the current one is not very open-minded, so we would wait years until Civil War if we go that route. As much as I agree with you on Vision, it's mostly because he didn't have time to develop. He seemed like a stand-up guy, what with that whole life monologue. How about we try King Etri?"

Just then, Mr. and Mrs. McEwen came in.

"Oh? Beat us to evening training? What's with the pile of rocks?"

We proceeded to fill them in, and unexpectedly, Mrs. McEwen had a solution.
