Chapter 6 - Chapter 6 Three mutants?

"I am Professor Charles from the Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters in New York, and I would like to speak with your parents."

Professor X again showed a gentle smile.

Just then, his father Oleg's inquiring voice came from the living room:

"Hawking, who is it?"

"Two strangers, they said they are Professors from a New York school,"

Hawking replied loudly.

Oleg and Elena immediately paused the television and walked over together.

The moment he saw Oleg and Elena, Professor X activated his telepathic ability and began to read their memories.

Every time he came to recruit students, he would check the parents' memories first.

If they were parents who were afraid of and hostile towards Mutants, and were unaware that their child was a Mutant.

He would not inform them that he was the Principal of a Mutant School, but would recruit under the guise of a normal New York school.

For example, a few years ago, when recruiting a student in Boston who could release freezing air, after telepathically sensing the parents' attitudes, he did not tell them the truth at the time.

If they were parents who already knew their child was a Mutant, or were not hostile towards Mutants, then he would choose to tell them the truth.

"It's actually three, no, it can't be entirely confirmed."

After reading Oleg and Elena's memories, Professor X's expression showed surprise again.

He had originally thought there was only one Mutant child here, but he didn't expect the result to be three, two of whom had rather special circumstances.

The one that could be fully confirmed, little Pietro, was the one he had sensed through the Cerebro.

The second, Pietro's younger sister, Wanda, did not have the unique brainwaves of a Mutant under his sensing, but she had abilities similar to telekinesis, so it couldn't be determined whether she was a Mutant or not.

The third, little Hawking, was the adopted son these two parents had taken in more than two months ago.

But it also couldn't be fully confirmed that he was a Mutant.

It's just that he was more inclined to believe that the other party was a Mutant, because it fit the characteristics of a Mutant very well.

First, the little guy had a tail growing out of his backside, and many Mutants have some animalistic features.

Secondly, under normal circumstances, the little guy's body was only slightly stronger than an ordinary child's, but after an outburst, he could intercept missiles and unleash powerful energy attacks.

This also made him very much like a Mutant; some Mutants with great potential exhibit this characteristic before fully mastering their abilities.

Finally, and most importantly, the evidence was that the little guy could passively shield his telepathic perception, so he couldn't sense the other party's brainwaves, which was very reasonable.

In this regard, Wanda was very strange; he could see Wanda's memories, and logically speaking, if she were a Mutant, she should emit the special brainwaves belonging to Mutants, but in fact, she didn't.

If she wasn't a Mutant, Wanda's memories also showed no signs of being modified, experimented on, or any other special experiences; it was just a natural awakening of telekinesis.

In any case, whether they were Mutants or not, he decided to recruit all three children into his school.

Especially little Hawking, who possessed multiple abilities, all of which were very suitable for combat, and whose mind was precocious. With proper guidance in the future, he would be very suitable to join his X-Men.

If he went astray and was abducted by Magneto later, that would be another headache for him.

"That's the situation; we are a school specifically for protecting and guiding Mutant children."

In the living room, Professor X explained the general situation of his school and the purpose of his visit.

After listening, Oleg and Elena also hesitated.

According to Professor Charles, his Mutant School was indeed the most suitable place for the three children to attend.

They had always worried that if the three children attended school in Sokovia in the future, they would be in danger if their Mutant identities were exposed.

And Professor Charles did indeed cite many similar examples.

They didn't feel that Professor Charles would deceive them; as for the reason, it was an inexplicable sense of trust they felt upon seeing the Professor, for reasons unknown to them.

What truly made them hesitate was that the school was in New York, an entirely different country. Going there for school was simply too far, and they wouldn't see them more than a few times a year, which they really couldn't bear.

"Professor Charles, we…"

After some consideration, the children's safety concerns outweighed their reluctance, and they ultimately decided to agree to let the three children go to school in New York.

However, just as they spoke, they were interrupted by Hawking, who had been listening to both sides:

"Dad, Mom, can I talk to Professor Charles alone?"

"Of course. No problem."

Oleg and Elena were stunned for a moment, then nodded simultaneously.

Because Hawking usually acted very mature, and also because he had previously intercepted a missile to save their family, the couple's attitude towards Hawking was different from that towards Pietro and Wanda; they truly treated him as an older child.

For any related matters, they would also respect his own opinions.

Professor X was also very interested in Hawking, who had great potential and was impervious to telepathy, and wanted to know what he needed to discuss with him alone, so he did not refuse.

The old and the young thus moved from the living room to the Underground Room.

"Is there something you wish to tell me?"

"Professor, you should understand the country of Sokovia; it is very unsafe. Even though the war has ended and there is a brief peace, no one knows when the next war will break out.

I am very worried that when my siblings and I go to your school, Dad and Mom will be in danger.

Therefore, I hope the Professor can help them with immigration and find suitable jobs for them in New York."

Hawking spoke earnestly to Charles.

Attending the Mutant School was a good choice for him right now.

Developing discreetly in Sokovia would be safe, but it was too slow for his strength, and it wasn't truly safe anyway, with wars, HYDRA, and the future destruction of all of Sokovia.

And the Mutant School was naturally not completely safe, but at least there were the X-Men to hold the line. He didn't entirely agree with Professor X's ideology; how should he put it, he felt it was too idealistic.

But such a person makes a good teammate; at least he wouldn't sacrifice you for profit.

Professor X also likes to manipulate people, but was he the kind of person who would be manipulated?

If it was beneficial to him, he would go with the flow; if it was not beneficial and even harmful, he would find a reason to decline, since Professor X couldn't read his mind.

It was better than Magneto. From the perspective of Mutants as a whole, Magneto was not wrong; he completely stood with the Mutants, even capable of being ruthless enough to kill all non-Mutants.

But if you were Magneto's teammate, he might sacrifice you for the benefit of Mutants as a whole at any time.

Mystique was so loyal, and their relationship was so good, yet he didn't hesitate at all when it was time to kill her.

And there was no need to mention Hawking; moreover, he was not a Mutant. Oleg, Elena, and Wanda were not Mutants; only Pietro was a Mutant. On principle, he and Professor X were aligned.

Neither hoped that one side, Mutants or humans, would be completely annihilated...
