The Going Merry rocked gently as the sea stretched wide and calm.
Sanji adjusted his tie, cigarette dangling, already settled into his role like he'd always belonged there.
"Naaami-chwaaaaan~ đ"
He slid a glass across the table with a flourish.
"I've prepared your favorite drink~ Perfectly balanced, just for you."
Nami blinked, surprised.
"Ohâthank you, Sanji."
She smiled, lifting the glass.
Sanji froze.
A beat.
His knees shook.
"A smile⊠a smile from Nami-chwaaanâŠ!!"
He wiggled uncontrollably, hearts practically bursting from his eyes.
From the side of the deckâ
"Hah."
Zoro leaned against the railing, arms crossed.
"Lecherous curly-eyebrow."
Sanji snapped.
"What did you just say, moss-head?"
Zoro's mouth twitched.
"You heard me."
Sanji stomped forward.
"Say it again, you one-eyed weed!"
"Oh?" Zoro straightened.
"Did I hit a nerve, you fucking curly eyebrow?"
The air crackled.
Luffy watched them for half a second.
"âŠHehehe."
Usopp sighed.
"They're gonna kill each other someday, aren't they?"
Nami pinched the bridge of her nose.
"Not on my ship."
Zoro and Sanji paused.
"âŠTch."
"âŠHmph."
They turned away from each other at the same time.
Somewhere between insults and glares, something unspoken settled in â
this was the beginning.
---
A little later.
The sun dipped lower.
The laughter faded into a quiet lull as the crew gathered near the helm.
Usopp scratched his head.
"Uh⊠hey. Where are we headed next?"
Silence.
All eyes turned slowly toward Nami.
She stiffened.
Her fingers tightened around the map.
She swallowed.
"âŠWe're going to Cocoyasi Village."
The sea breeze carried her words gently.
"I'm going to⊠pay back my village."
Her voice was firm â too firm.
Sanji noticed it immediately.
Zoro's visible eye narrowed slightly.
Usopp felt a knot form in his stomach.
Luffy tilted his head.
"âŠOh?"
No one pushed.
No one asked.
They could all feel it â
this wasn't just a stop.
Something heavier lived behind those words.
Zoro turned away first.
"Tch. Doesn't matter."
Sanji nodded, lighting a cigarette.
"Wherever Nami-san goes, I cook."
Usopp forced a grin.
"Y-yeah! Villages are great! Totally normal!"
Luffy smiled wide.
"Shishishi! Sounds fun!"
Nami looked down, surprised.
Thenâquietlyâshe smiled.
The Going Merry sailed onward, unaware that ahead waited
teeth, blood, chains, and a promise long overdue.
And somewhere nearbyâŠ
A goddess watched the sea, curious, silent, and listening.
..
..
..
The Going Merry cut through the sea, her sails full, pointed toward the next destination.
On deckâ
Zoro moved in silence.
Each swing of his swords was controlled, deliberate. His breath steady. Muscles tightening, relaxing, tightening again. Sweat rolled down his arms as steel hummed through the air.
Nearby, Usopp crouched beside a small crate, tongue sticking out in concentration as he packed his handmade bullets.
"Explosive⊠smoke⊠flashâŠ"
He grinned.
"Heh. Perfect."
A few steps away, Johnny and Yosaku were sprawled across the deck, dead asleep.
"Zzz⊠meatâŠ"
"âŠCaptainâŠ"
In the kitchenâ
Sanji scrubbed a pan with sharp irritation, cigarette hanging loosely from his lips.
Behind himâ
"Sanji!"
Luffy leaned over the counter, arms crossed.
"I want fooood! Hurry up!"
Sanji snapped back instantly.
"You just ate breakfast, you idiot!"
"That was earlier!"
"That was ten minutes ago!"
"That's long!"
Sanji's eye twitched.
"Get. Out. Of. My. Kitchen."
---
Below deckâ
Nami's room was quiet.
Too quiet.
Cry sat on the bed, legs folded, watching Nami struggle with words written on paper.
"This one," Nami said firmly, tapping the page.
"Repeat it."
Cry tilted her head.
"âŠSâŠafeâŠ"
Nami sighed.
"Close enough."
But her eyes lingered on Cry longer than usual.
If I bring her to CocoyasiâŠ
Nami's fingers tightened.
If Arlong or his men see herâŠ
She swallowed.
They won't just look.
Her jaw clenched.
Cry felt it.
The shift.
The unease rolling off Nami like a storm beneath the surface.
Cry didn't understand the feelingâbut it hurt.
Slowly, gently, Cry leaned forward and pressed a soft kiss to Nami's forehead.
A simple gesture.
Don't worry.
Nami froze.
Then her shoulders loosened.
She lay back beside Cry, staring at the ceiling.
"âŠYou really don't know anything, do you?"
Cry watched her quietly.
Nami turned her head.
For a momentâjust a momentâshe let herself soften.
She leaned forward and kissed Cry's forehead in return.
"âŠOkay."
But the resolve returned just as fast.
She's not going near that island.
Everything would be fine.
It had to be.
Nami had been stealing for years.
Eighty million berries buried behind her house.
She only needed twenty more.
She already had it.
She reached for the bag beside the bed.
"Cry," she said quietly.
Cry understood.
She lifted her hand.
A barrel of gold appearedâsilent, heavy, gleaming.
Nami opened it, hands steady now.
She counted carefully.
Thirty million berries removed.
She paused⊠then placed them into the ship's treasure box.
"For emergencies," she muttered.
The rest stayed with her.
She closed the lid.
The Going Merry sailed on.
Toward Cocoyasi.
Toward promises.
Toward lies that were about to break.
And Cry sat beside Nami, watching her closelyâ
curious, silent, and unknowingly walking toward a storm.
