Chapter 1 - Between chaos and You

Li Wei grew up in the bustling heart of Beijing, the eldest child in a family whose name carried weight in the world of business and social influence. From a young age, he learned to smile when praised, to nod when corrected, and to hide the storm of his own thoughts behind a carefully curated image of charm and discipline. His father, Jian Wei, was a man of power and precision, respected in society but distant at home. He believed success was everything, and love was measured in achievements. His mother, Mei Ling, was gentle but anxious, always tiptoeing around her husband's expectations, trying to fill the emotional gaps with warmth that was often misplaced or too late. Xiulan, was a playful, carefree soul who idolized him, unaware of the burden he carried in silence.His younger sister, Xiulan, had found a spark of rebellion in a secret boyfriend, a distraction that left Li Wei alone to carry the family's expectations.

~~~~~~~~
From childhood, Li Wei's days were a mixture of tutoring, music lessons, and a constant parade of social etiquette classes. At school, he was the boy everyone admired, not necessarily for his personality but for his image. Teachers praised him for diligence, peers envied him for effortless charm, yet very few truly knew him. Only his childhood friend, Chen, who had grown up next door, had seen the quiet moments of vulnerability: the nights Li Wei would stand by the window, staring at the city lights, wondering if life had more than the applause and the expectations.
As he grew older, Li Wei's path into acting was almost predestined. A talent scout noticed him at a charity gala, and suddenly, the boy who had learned to hide behind manners and smiles became the face of films and magazines. His manager, Zhou, who had become like a second father, guided him through contracts, photo shoots, and red carpets, but even Zhou admitted that Li Wei's heart belonged somewhere else — somewhere quieter, somewhere real. The film industry brought friends and rivals alike. His co-star, Han, was friendly on the surface but secretly competitive, always trying t8o outshine him. Another colleague, Ming, was loyal, always in his corner, sharing quiet moments of laughter when the cameras weren't watching. Li Wei had learned to navigate this world with caution; every handshake, every smile, every word had to be measured.
~~~~~~~~

Even with fame, Li Wei's life had its private corners. Early mornings spent jogging along the river, late nights reading novels, small rituals like writing down thoughts in a leather-bound journal, and drinking tea by the window. These moments were his sanctuary, the one place where he could breathe. Yet, even in these moments, he felt a hollow echo — the longing for someone who could see him as he truly was, not as the image the world demanded.

😭😭~~~~~~~~

Family gatherings were a mix of tension and laughter. His father would grill him about his latest projects, his mother would fuss over whether he was eating properly, and Xiulan would chatter endlessly, oblivious to the silent weight in the room. Cousins would compare him to other successful children in the family, a reminder that being talented was never enough — you had to be perfect, too. Extended family came with their own quirks: an aunt who always criticized his appearance, an uncle who made unwanted comments about his career, and neighbors who watched, whispered, and judged. Despite this, Li Wei carried it all with grace, his charm acting as a shield. But beneath the surface, he carried the fear of never being fully understood, never being allowed to just be.

Now, moving to yue jun life, which was quieter, grounded, and full of responsibility. Yue jun lived her life with the surgical precision of a clock, but she often felt like the gears inside were made of ice. Growing up, her home had been a place of echoes. Her father was a ghost in the hallway—physically there, but emotionally a thousand miles away, his silence a wall she could never climb. His lack of affection left a void that her mother filled with the poisonous whispers of Aunt Luna,her aunt.

While other children were comforted, Yue jun was curated. Her mother, fed by Luna's constant critiques, didn't see a daughter; she saw a project that needed to be finished with a wedding. "A degree is just a heavy book," her mother would repeat, Luna's voice coming out of her mouth. "But a husband is a home."

Reason for aunt Luna's jealousy 🤡>>>>>

The dinner table was a minefield, and Yue jun knew exactly where the tripwires were buried. Across the spread of untouched food, Aunt Luna's eyes tracked Yue jun with a sharp, predatory envy. It wasn't just that Yue jun was a surgeon; it was the way she carried herself—with a quiet, disciplined grace that seemed to highlight everything Luna's own children lacked. Every time Yue jun mentioned a long shift at the hospital, Luna saw it as a personal insult to her son, who was currently "finding himself" for the third year in a row.

😝😝

"It's a shame, really," Luna's husband remarked, swirling his drink. His tone was casual, but the edge was there. "All those years of study, and for what? A quiet house? Your mother isn't getting any younger, Yue jun. She needs grandkids, not a daughter who's married to a stethoscope."

The room went cold. Zara looked at her mother, seeing the familiar flicker of doubt cross her face. This was their favorite weapon: guilt. They couldn't touch her professional success, so they attacked her womanhood, painting her discipline as a defect and her ambition as a tragedy. Every family gathering was a trial where Yue jun was the defendant, guilty of the crime of being successful while being single.

Later that night, the clicking of Yue jun's heels on the hardwood of her own apartment felt like a victory. She had traded the "warmth" of a toxic family for the stark, beautiful silence of a life she had built with her own two hands. As she stared out at the city lights, she realized the distance wasn't just about miles—it was about protecting the person she had worked so hard to become. She was no longer willing to shrink herself just so her relatives wouldn't feel so small.
