Freda Pov
I did not think. I just moved.
Dominic had barely finished saying that Urdon had to die tonight before my body launched itself between the two of them and I hit Dominic with everything I had left. My claws dragged across the side of his neck and my teeth caught his jaw and he stumbled back two steps before he found his footing and shoved me sideways. The ground hit me hard and the impact rattled my ribs and for a second the whole world tilted but I pushed off the dirt and got back to my feet before he could process what had happened.
"Freda, stay back," Urdon rasped from behind me and I did not listen.
"I am not going anywhere," I said without turning around.
Dominic wiped the thin line of blood from his neck and stared at his own hand like he could not quite believe it and then his eyes came back to me and the amusement in them was gone and something sharper had taken its place.
"You just drew blood on me," he said slowly.
