Meanwhile in the same restaurant an Alpha and his mother are having a lunch date.
The day started hours earlier, but I am still not having a good one . In fact, I am so close to snapping at someone that even my mother, dear sweet Charlene looks like an incoming candidate for my bubbling frustration.
Actually, what better person than the one to drag me across town for food we could have had in the comfort of our own home just so she could gossip about my mate to me of all people. My mother Is relentless. And after finding out that her odd obsession was actually my mate, she was even more bent on finding out what made him odd. However, at this point my mind was more focused on hunting down said mate and making him mine.
Am a werewolf and it's in my nature to want to claim what's mine and he so happens to be mine. And I was close to killing everyone who stood in my way. Take for instance my beta who was currently nursing his broken arm after stupidly challenging me when my mate sat a few yards away. Truly Austin would be dead if my control on my animal side had been any weaker.
"Darling, I understand that he is yours and rightfully so, but you need to get a grip on your animal before you actually meet him. Even now for lunar's sake Matthew fix your eyes, they are brighter than your future right now." She snaps at me as she violently steps my foot underneath the table.
I blink really hard and then try to breathe through the pain, but my senses are too heightened right now. My other side is too tense and deprived to be fully calm. It's also why my mother has me eating lunch in a human infested restaurant in the first place.
As pack alpha I can't be unstable around the pack. It creates anxiety and stress among the wolves. So, I have to block the entire pack temporarily till am safe and bonded in my mate's arms.
"I need to see him mother" I whine as my right foot takes to fidgeting. I realize just how crazy I have been behaving for the past few hours. I attacked my beta wolf, stalked my mate the whole night and now acting like a druggie in withdrawal.
"Well, how about you get Tracy to invite him over for a beer or something and introduce yourself? It could be a night out to introduce him to the town night life and whatnot."
"That doesn't sound like a bad idea at all actually" It was a great idea really. A total coincidence on my part and I get to charm my way into his life.
"Perfect, let me talk to her right now before I forget" My eyes graze over as I mind link Tracy who so happens to be Austin's mate and whose said mate I assaulted not long ago. It takes half a second for the thought to fully register and I cut off the link before she starts cursing me out and look up at my mother.
Did this woman really give birth to me, I wonder as a wicked smirk makes its way to her ridiculously red lips and my lips move into a snarl.
"Bet you forgot about the part where you assaulted her mate last night right, Matthew?"
"I hate you"
"It's okay my darling boy, your father and sister love me enough for the both of us"
"...don't come bother me when you want information on Chrisy's ..." My body tingles in an odd sort of way that makes my tummy curl in itself and I wonder why before I smell it. His scent is a one of a kind that's designed for a mate's pleasure. The moment his body enters the restaurant my animal side stands to attention and my gaze snaps to the entrance where Mason beams at him and I barely manage to hold back a growl of jealousy.
It shocks me into the present and I snap back to focus on who lunar love has given me for this lifetime. He wears simple dark jeans and a white button-down shirt with a dark sweater on top. It's odd because it's a hundred degrees outside and I cannot fathom how anyone can dress like that in such weather willingly.
But my corrupt brain realize that I don't care and that he's the hottest thing I have ever seen. He stares at Mason for a good minute or so before he frowns and looks around, he takes in the place in a few seconds before he spots an empty table a few feet to my left and he just so happens to be in direct view of my mother and not me.
"Am going to the toilet, switch seats with me or invite him to have lunch with us before I come back"
I quickly mind link mom before calmly walking to the restroom. I need enough time to compose myself before I make a complete and utter fool of me and my animal. Speaking of animals my eyes are getting brighter, and he is fighting for control like a rabid dog, it's driving me crazy because my mate is just a few feet away from me.
I power walk to the restroom where I walk to the mirror and examine my colorful eyes. A storm of orange fire blazes back at me and I know I will be a while. My animal side can be for lack of a better word.

" You need to calm down. He's just a few feet away from us. All you have to do is calm down and let me handle the human interaction part okay...?" I beg the stupid wolf because am not above begging at this point. I have had a terrible night, and my head keeps pounding in all directions and I will be dammed if I let this stupid mutt ruin my chances of forever after.
I shut my eyes real hard and reach for my wolf. We need to have a quick talk.
