When the weekend came, I was glad that I could have some time to myself, usually home alone because my aunt works in an office building for the court, so she gets home late, like around 10:00 on the weekend and 8:00 on weekdays. My aunt is the best person I know. She's like a mom to me now, and I'm glad I can have that, but for now, since I'm home alone, I usually follow my normal routine: cleaning the house, feeding the animals, and finding ways to entertain myself. I mean, I can leave the house, but I dont really like to because every time I'm out in public, people will recognize me and say things under their breath. I mean, I'm used to it, but it brings me to my lowest point, but there's nothing to worry about. I always find ways to be happy.
While I was thinking about this, my phone went off. I got a text from my aunt saying that if I could go to the store and get some groceries, so I said, "Sure," and got ready. While I was getting ready, I thought about anything else I might need. I mean, I was going to the store to get a snack, and then I left my house. The store is a block away, so I usually walk there. I walked in and started grabbing the stuff I needed to add to the list my aunt sent me. While I was grabbing something, I heard someone say, "Hey, Anton." When I turned around, it was Ms. Azul walking towards me. "Then she said, "Man, I wasn't expecting to see you here. How are you doing?"
"Good, I'm doing fine. I'm just here getting groceries for my aunt. What about you? What brings you here?"
"Not much, just looking around to see if I could find anything. My parents are on a business trip in Texas, so it's just me for now."
"Oh, okay. So you're just browsing, then?"
"Yeah, pretty much. But I wanted to ask if you have any plans?"
"Not that I know of. Why do you ask?"
"Well, would it be alright if I came over to your house? I mean, we are friends, right?"
When she said that, my heart stopped because I had never had anyone come to my house, and now the first person to walk into my house was a girl - well, this was a first for me, I guess. After I was done shopping, she and I started walking towards my house, and while walking, I noticed that she kept looking at my hand. Then she asked, "Why is your hand wrapped up?" Before I knew it, she grabbed it. "And why is there blood all over it!"
"Oh, that's just an accident that happened," I replied.
"What happened?" she pressed.
"I can't say," I told her. But I do know how I cut my hand, I mean, after all, I was playing with a knife, a switch blade to be precise, but I can't say that i mean I'm a person who wants to tell people that he is a good person is easier said than done but for now I don't mind having company at all. When we arrived at my house, she was very surprised by how nice I was, so I opened the door for her, and we walked in. While she was looking at the interior, I asked if she wanted anything to drink. She asked for a cup of water, so I got her some. While I was giving her the water, she asked if she could see the backyard. But I told her that she couldn't when she asked "why" I just told her that she just couldn't, but she didn't listen and went. I tried to stop her, but it was too late, and then I yelled out, "I TOLD YOU TO STOP AND NOT GO!" In that split second, the monitor sensor went off, and a powerful shock coursed through my body, leaving me feeling weak for five seconds. When this happened, I realized that I was aggressive. When Lya saw what had happened to me, she yelled out, "Are you ok!" but I said to leave. She tried to say something, but I just told her to leave, and that's what she did. After I closed the door, I went to the backyard.
The reason I told her not to go was because of the koi pond that my aunt and I have. The reason she was not allowed to go near there is that it is a memorial, and the only thing my parents and I valued when I was at the koi pond, I sat there and just talked to them. I know it sounds weird, but being a kid who never had friends was normal to me. While I sat, I started to regret what I did. I mean, she was just curious, that's all. While I was thinking, I pulled out a picture that was behind my phone case. It was a picture of me, my mom, and my dad showing off the fishing that we caught at a lake here in Dexter. It's the only picture I have of them, and I tear up every time after looking at it. I look up at the sky and ask, "Mom, Dad, if you're listening, I'm really struggling on how I should apologize to her, and I don't want to be the bad person I feel like right now. I just want to make the right choice here."
