Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Crisis—The Chaos Header Descends

"Gudon!"

"Sadora!"

"Sadora!"

"Dada!"

"Valky!"

"ULTRA-FUSION!" × 5

As the five TPC operatives slotted their cards into their respective Monster Rings, a series of digitized voices announced the entities they were about to inhabit.

The Subterranean Monster Gudon, the Rock Monster Sadora, the multi-faced Dada, and the Alien Valky—these were the five combat forms chosen for the engagement.

Gudon was a brownish-yellow reptilian beast with long, deadly whips for hands. Sadora, a creature resembling a jagged rock cocoon, possessed extendable pincers. Dada was a tall, monochrome extraterrestrial with a massive head and a body covered in zebra-like patterns. Finally, Valky was a sleek, sea-man alien wearing what looked like a black bodysuit with a metallic-yellow head, brandishing a circular trident.

The five giants materialized and sprinted toward the cornered Gadi, coordinating their movements with the Lithra that Qin Yuxin had transformed into.

The appearance of six allied monsters and aliens provided a surge of relief to the students trapped within the dark dome. This was six-on-one—how could they possibly lose?

ROAR—!

At that moment, the GUTS Eagle arrived in the skies above Hangzhou No. 1 High School, its sensors immediately locking onto the battlefield below.

Watching the fighter jet descend, Ye Feng let out a breath of relief. "Thank God... GUTS isn't slow to the punch."

"Don't let your guard down." Beside him, the middle-aged official spoke with a heavy, cautionary tone. "Until the monster has vanished, do not relax for a single second."

Ye Feng blinked, then nodded solemnly. "Understood."

Above the Barrier:

Inside the Alpha module, a young pilot in a flight helmet reported, "We are in position above the Hangzhou No. 1 High School barrier. Gadi is currently engaged with ground forces. Requesting orders."

Back at the base, the Commander watched the tactical feed, adjusting his headset. "Deploy the Liquid Nitrogen Beam. Our first priority is to rescue those children."

"Copy that."

In the Beta module, Vice-Captain Chen Chuan relayed the command: "Zhang Zhen, release the Liquid Nitrogen Beam."

"On it!"

The pilot of the Alpha module flipped a series of switches and gripped the flight stick. "Liquid Nitrogen Beam... firing!"

BEEP!

A pale blue beam of freezing energy shot from the nose of the GUTS Eagle, striking the dark barrier and beginning to frost over the energy field.

Below, Gadi lashed out with its whip, knocking back its six opponents simultaneously. It instinctively tilted its head upward. Seeing the frost spreading across its dome, a shocking transformation occurred.

"No! How can Chaos Header be here?!"

"Damn it! No wonder this Gadi looked wrong—it's been possessed!"

Vibrant, shimmering light particles began to erupt from the pores of Gadi's hide. They were beautiful to look at, but to the TPC, they were the stuff of nightmares.

The Chaos Header energy surged out of Gadi's body, forming a pillar of light that slammed into the overhead barrier. The frost that was about to shatter the dome was instantly vaporized as the barrier was reinforced and thickened.

Now, the barrier was no longer invisible to the naked eye. It was shrouded in a "pixelated" layer of light particles that spread across the entire surface. Those outside could no longer see in, and those inside were blinded to the outside world.

Worse yet, every electronic instrument within the barrier short-circuited. Ye Feng and the others were instantly cut off from all communications.

Inside the dome, the five TPC operatives and Qin Yuxin were paralyzed by the sight of the Chaos Header. Realizing the horror of the situation, they prepared to disengage from their fusions, but it was too late...

Six viral shards of light split from Gadi's body. Before Qin Yuxin or the others could react, the particles burrowed into their monster forms, instantly rewriting their biological code.

The once-docile eyes of the monsters turned a bloodthirsty crimson. Their skin grew dark and jagged, pulsating with an eerie, molten red glow.

Chaos Lithra, Chaos Gudon, Chaos Sadora, Chaos Dada, and Chaos Valky. Along with Gadi, seven monsters now stood within the two-kilometer death zone.

Lithra's features became sharp and aggressive; its soft skin sprouted jagged spines, and its claws extended to nearly five meters in length. Gudon turned pitch-black, with magma-like veins flowing beneath its scales, radiating pure malice. Sadora's rocky hide mimicked this molten appearance. Dada's zebra patterns shifted to a deep, void-black, while Valky seemed to grow a suit of dark-gold plate armor, its weapon transforming into a wicked, long-handled halberd.

Infected by the Chaos Header, the six giants turned in unison. Their eyes, burning with a violent greed, locked onto the students huddled in the evacuation shelters.

Among these students were those who had successfully awakened. If the monsters consumed them, the unique latent energy within their bodies would be absorbed, making the Chaos-infected beasts exponentially more powerful.

Outside the Barrier:

The GUTS team, having lost all contact with the school, was frantically discussing a new strategy. If those seven infected monsters were left unchecked, Hangzhou No. 1 High School would become a slaughterhouse.

"Commander! I request permission to transform and force my way in—" Zhang Zhen, on the Alpha module, shouted desperately.

He was immediately cut off by Vice-Captain Chen Chuan. "Negative! Chaos Header has manifested. Until we determine its energy level, we cannot risk a monster fusion. If a GUTS member is possessed, it won't just be the school—all of Hangzhou will fall."

Zhang Zhen slumped back in his cockpit, powerless. Chaos Header was an energy-based lifeform; the number of monsters it could assimilate depended entirely on its own energy rank.

If a Chaos Header was Rank A, it could control one monster of the same rank, or ten Rank B monsters, and so on. Furthermore, if a Chaos Header focused all its energy into a single host, that host could potentially threaten a Rank S monster. This "cross-tier" predatory capability was a literal bug in the system, leaving the TPC at a total loss.

Back at the GUTS base, the analyst monitoring energy fluctuations suddenly gasped. "Report! There is a massive energy reaction occurring within the Gadi barrier! It's off the charts!"

"Can you identify the signature? What's the rank?!" The Commander barked, his anxiety peaking. First the Chaos Header, now this?

The analyst didn't answer immediately. Her fingers blurred across the virtual keyboard before she froze, staring at the screen in disbelief.

"Lin Li! What happened? Report now!" the Commander shouted.

Lin Li snapped out of it. "Energy Rank is A... no, it's still climbing! The energy source is... Light."

"Light?"

The Commander was stunned. He had expected a powerful alien or a new monster, but an energy source of pure Light? What kind of monster or alien was made of Light?

Could it be Priz-Ma? No, Priz-Ma lived in the South Pole, and no one held its card. Why was there a solar-level reaction here?

"Commander! Commander! The energy field inside the barrier is shifting!"

"The Light... the Light is breaking through!"

"Incredible! This Light is dispersing the Chaos particles! The instruments are coming back online—we have visuals!"

"Report! Report! A mysterious blue extraterrestrial has appeared inside the barrier! Requesting instructions!"

The voices of the pilots flooded the comms simultaneously, creating a cacophony of confusion. But the Commander didn't scold them. He only heard one thing: contact was restored, and something impossible had happened.

"Lin Li! Patch the satellite feed to the main screen! I want to see what is going on!"

As the command was issued, the satellite view of the school was restored and projected onto the wall.

"This... what on earth is that?!"

Hearing the Commander's voice crack with shock, Lin Li turned to look at the screen. She, too, froze in her tracks.

Reflected in her eyes was a giant figure, approximately fifty meters tall. Its physique was infinitely closer to a human's than any alien they had ever seen, yet it was bathed in a divine, warm radiance.

"A Giant... a Giant of Light?"
