The border held through the night.
Ronan confirmed it at 0600 — the Crescent formation had fully withdrawn by midnight, the eastern perimeter restored to its standard coverage, the damage to the safe house documented and the contingency routes reclassified. On paper, in the language of tactical outcomes, it was a Nightshade victory. Sixty wolves had crossed. They had been pushed back. They had not achieved their objective, whatever that objective had been beyond the provoking and the testing and the deliberate cost of two lives that Garrett could absorb because they were not his to absorb.
On paper it was a win.
