Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: Horikita Suzune's Expectations Fail

Horikita Suzune wasn't in a good mood. About a month ago, she got some information from Kamio Tatsuya.

This school divides classes based on rank. Class A is for the best, while Class D is full of the worst.

At first, she was shocked, but she quickly thought there was something wrong with this information.

How could Class D all be the worst? I'm pretty good, right?

She is a confident person. She thinks of herself as good and has never doubted it.

Over the past month, she has seen the wild behavior of Class D students, their boldness, but she still doesn't think there's a problem.

She just thinks every class has some lawless people, and they might even be the majority.

And things were pretty good at the start, right?

But as the teachers did nothing and let them do whatever they wanted, the students in the class became more and more free, and it was all the teachers' fault.

But she didn't expect this to be a test from the school.

The result now is that she doesn't have enough money for food.

Now she's worried about what to do about her food money this month. Does she have to eat the free mountain vegetable meal?

She doesn't think there's anything shameful about eating the mountain vegetable meal.

The problem is, what if her brother sees her?

That's what she's worried about.

She really doesn't want her brother to see her in a bad state.

She remembers the school seems to offer free ingredients. She'll go look after school.

"At least tell us the details of how the points go up and down... for future reference."

Hirata looks upset. He remembers Kamio Tatsuya's words clearly: the rating can change.

Even if it's zero now, as long as they try to improve the rating, the points should go up, right?

"Good idea, but according to school rules, the details of the review can't be told to you.

Like when you enter society, whether or not you're told the details of your job review is up to the company. You should be able to understand that."

Seeing the disappointed students, Chabashira-sensei shows a small smile for the first time today.

"Even if you stop being late or talking in class starting today... let's say you get zero points off this month, the points won't go down or up. In short, the points you get next month will also be zero.

On the other hand, it doesn't matter how late you are or how much you skip class, because your points are already zero. Aren't you happy?"

"Ah..."

Hirata's face gets even darker. He understands what Chabashira-sensei means. This will only hurt the students' desire to improve class behavior.

Just then, he feels his phone vibrate.

Looking at your phone in class is a point deduction, and other classes wouldn't do it if they had points.

So, the message is from a classmate?

He wasn't going to look, but he thought about what Chabashira-sensei said: it doesn't matter if he breaks the rules.

And if someone texts him at this time, maybe...

With some hope, Hirata takes out his phone in front of everyone.

After seeing the message, Hirata is shocked and hesitates.

"What's wrong, Hirata? Do you have another question?"

Looking at the anonymous message, Hirata struggles for a moment, then looks up at Chabashira-sensei.

"Chabashira-sensei, even if we break school rules, we won't lose points, but what about the other classes that have points? If they break the rules, will they lose points?"

Hearing Hirata's words, Chabashira-sensei immediately understands why he's asking.

Who?

Who sent the message to Hirata?

Chabashira Sae looks around the class, but she doesn't find the person.

"Before I answer that, can you tell me who sent you the message? This isn't the kind of question you would normally think of."

Hearing this, Hirata Yosuke smiles and explains.

"I don't know. It was an anonymous account."

An anonymous account. It must be a student from Class D, but who?

With no time to look and think, Chabashira-sensei answers Hirata's question: "Of course. Breaking school rules will lead to point deductions."

I see, Kamio Tatsuya nods.

It seems there are some good things about having zero points.

Most of the students in Class D don't understand why Hirata asked this question, but some of them thought of something based on the question and Chabashira-sensei's answer.

"Okay, the chatting is over. Let's get to the main topic."

As she speaks, Chabashira-sensei takes out a thick piece of white paper and puts it on the blackboard.

It has the names of Class A to Class D and a number after each one.

Class A: 994, Class B: 650, Class C: 490, Class D: 0.

"What is this?"

These are the class points, right?

"This is how the school shows you its rating of you," Chabashira-sensei explains. "When school started, all four classes had 1000 class points, and this is how many class points you have left today."

"Why do the other classes have points? That's weird..."

Why do the other classes have points?

Because they didn't break school rules, idiot.

Chabashira-sensei is too lazy to answer this kind of question. She feels like it would lower her IQ, but she is a teacher, so she needs to explain the situation.

"It seems you haven't been watching the other classes. All classes have been rated under the same rules for the past month. It's completely fair.

But the result is such a big difference in points. This is reality."

"But... why? Why are the point differences so even?"

"Simple. This school divides classes based on the students' rank. The best students go to Class A.

Then Class B, Class C, and you students in Class D are the worst. You're the worst flawed products, and you didn't disappoint, doing the worst things."

Faced with these unfair class rules, the students in Class D seem to be hit hard.

Even Horikita Suzune is affected. Kamio Tatsuya told her the same thing before, but she didn't believe it.

Because she watched the students in other classes and her own class.

She feels that she and many people in Class D are much better than the students in other classes, like Hirata, Kamio Tatsuya, and herself.

So she was actually hoping...

That the information Kamio Tatsuya gave her was wrong and she would get her 90,000 points back.

She would rather believe that it was the teachers letting them do what they want than admit she isn't that good.

But Chabashira-sensei came right out and confirmed what Kamio Tatsuya said.

But even so, she still doesn't think she's flawed. She even plans to find Chabashira-sensei after school and ask her about it.
