Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

"So… first I need a way to locate a settlement."

I stood still in the forest, looking around.

"Walking randomly isn't going to help. A spell should do."

The moment I thought that—

A blue panel materialized in front of me.

"…There you are."

It wasn't a status screen.

It looked like a coding window.

Empty lines. A faint glow.

At the bottom—

[ COMPILE ]

"This is my talent, huh…"

I focused.

Spell Creation: Locate Lifeform

"Purpose first."

I mentally typed.

Spell_Name: Locate_Lifeform Purpose: Find locations where humans live

"Now the working."

I didn't jump to results.

I defined the process.

Method: - Spread mana outward in all directions - Scan for life energy - Read mana vessels inside lifeforms - Identify species based on vessel structure

"For now, I'll limit it."

Limitations: - Can only detect living beings - Cannot detect non-living objects

I paused.

"Alright. Let's explain this properly."

How This Spell Works

Every lifeform has:

Life Energy – proof that it's alive

Mana Vessels – internal pathways where mana flows

These vessels are like fingerprints.

Animals have simple vessel layouts.

Humans have more complex and stable ones.

Monsters have distorted or abnormal patterns.

"This spell spreads my mana like a radar."

It doesn't touch or interfere.

It reads.

When my mana encounters a lifeform, it checks:

Is there life energy?

What kind of mana vessel structure does it have?

If the structure matches human, the spell marks the location.

Satisfied, I looked at the panel.

At the bottom—

[ COMPILE ]

"…Let's see."

I pressed it.

Compilation & Result

Mana flowed outward instantly.

Not violently.

Not visibly.

But I felt it spread—far and wide.

Information returned.

The panel updated.

Result: Human detected Count: 2 Distance: 11.3 km

I blinked.

"…There's a human nearby."

Then—

"…No. Two."

More lines appeared.

Additional lifeforms detected near targets Classification: Animal-type

"Animals?"

"…Dogs?"

I shrugged.

"At least I know where to go."

"Can I teleport?"

I immediately rejected it.

"No. Teleportation requires space magic."

Space magic meant space laws—and I wasn't confident with those yet.

"One mistake and I'd end up dead again."

So—

"Running?"

Too slow.

"…A physical enhancement spell?"

Possible.

"…Or flight."

I nodded.

"Yeah. Flight will work."

Another blue panel opened.

Spell Creation: Flight

Spell_Name: Flight Purpose: High-speed movement

I defined the mechanics clearly.

Core_Functions: - Wind magic for lift - Wind magic for forward propulsion - Gravity magic to reduce body weight

"This isn't ignoring gravity."

"It's controlling it."

I added stability.

Stability: - Constant mana output - Automatic balance correction

I pressed—

[ COMPILE ]

Wind gathered beneath my feet.

My body lifted smoothly.

"…It works."

I leaned forward.

"Let's go."

The forest instantly blurred.

"Whoa—this is fast!"

The wind pressure hit my face hard.

"I can't even keep my eyes open—!"

I quickly modified it.

Another panel flashed.

Add: - Wind pressure redirection around body

[ COMPILE ]

The air flowed around me instead of crashing into me.

"…Phew. Much better."

Yes, I can cast magic with imagination.

But skills matter because they define:

How magic works

How stable it is

How safe it is

I already explained how spells function.

Imagination alone isn't enough.

The signals grew stronger.

"…Almost there."

I slowed down.

"Better land before they see me."

I descended carefully.

"…Landed safely."

About a hundred meters to my right—

Screams.

"…Huh?"

The locate spell updated automatically.

"…Those aren't dogs."

My eyes widened.

"…Wolves."

Then I noticed something very wrong.

"…Since when do wolves have horns?"

I sighed.

"…My bad."

I raised my hand.

"Fireball."

A/N:I know this isn't exactly how real-world coding works 😅, but it's not like I can write an entire program inside the story. So for now, I've explained how the spells work instead. If needed, I may add actual code snippets later in the future. If you're enjoying this work of mine, please consider adding it to your collection—it really helps and motivates me to continue.
