The seashells varied greatly in size. Some were small enough to fit easily in one palm. Some were big enough to need two men to carry. A few of the largest ones were almost half the height of an adult.
Yun Wanrou turned slightly and looked at Bai Lingling.
"In order to be fair, we will only judge by the value of the pearls inside," she announced. "Whoever opens the more valuable pearl is the winner. Is that acceptable."
Her tone sounded generous.
Bai Lingling's expression did not change.
"Fine," she said simply.
The rule looked fair on the surface.
Everyone here knew that it was actually very tricky.
The size of the shell was not equal to the value of the pearl. A huge shell might hide only a Sand Pearl, or nothing at all. A small shell could contain a Night Pearl or some rare Spirit Pearl.
Furthermore, the price of a pearl depended on its tier more than its size. A thumbnail sized Rosaline's Lady Pearl could easily be worth more than a fist sized Common Pearl.
