Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: First Blood in Blackstone

Blackstone City never slept.

It merely changed its rhythm.

By day, blades were hidden behind smiles and trades.By night, they were drawn openly.

I walked through a narrow street lit by flickering red lanterns, my footsteps echoing softly against the stone.

This area was known as Low Iron District.

Unclaimed.Lawless.Perfect.

The system panel hovered silently.

[DING!]

Target-rich environment detected.

Minor factions competing for territory.

Recommended action:Establish dominance through decisive violence.

I stopped.

Ahead of me, a group blocked the street.

Eight men.

All armed.All hardened.

Their leader stepped forward, licking his lips.

"Well, well," he said."You've got guts walking alone here."

I looked at him calmly.

"And you've got poor instincts."

The man laughed.

"Boys," he said, raising his hand,"teach him how Blackstone welcomes newcomers."

They rushed me.

I didn't move.

The first man swung a cleaver.

I caught his wrist.

Crack.

His scream cut short as I drove my palm into his throat.

The second lunged from the side.

Shadow Step.

I reappeared behind him and snapped his neck.

Two down.

The rest hesitated.

Fear Incarnate activated.

Their confidence shattered.

"E-Elite—!"

Too late.

I moved.

Fists struck like hammers.

Bones broke.Bodies flew.

Within seconds, the street was littered with groaning figures.

Only the leader remained standing.

He backed away, trembling.

"W-wait," he stammered."We can talk—"

I stepped forward.

"You should have run," I said calmly.

One punch.

He crashed into the wall, unconscious.

The system chimed.

[DING!]

Minor faction eliminated.

Territory vacated.

Reputation +5.

I exhaled slowly.

Blood dripped onto the stone.

Blackstone had tasted me.

Word spread fast.

By midnight, the Low Iron District was buzzing.

A single cultivator.Elite Rank.Crushed a local gang without drawing a weapon.

Some laughed it off.

Others took it seriously.

The ones who survived long enough always did.

Inside a fortified building at the edge of the district, a man slammed his fist onto a table.

"That was OUR territory!" he roared.

The room fell silent.

This man was Qin Mara.

Lieutenant of the Black Fang Syndicate.

Enhanced Rank peak.

Brutal.Ambitious.And very angry.

"You said he was just some academy stray," Qin Mara snarled, glaring at his subordinate.

"He—he is," the man stammered."But he's strong. Elite Rank strong."

Qin Mara's lips curled into a cruel smile.

"Good," he said."I've been wanting to kill an elite."

He stood.

"Gather the men," he ordered."Tonight, we erase him."

I stood atop a low building overlooking the district.

The night wind carried distant shouts and the smell of blood.

The system pulsed.

[DING!]

Hostile intent detected.

Faction: Black Fang Syndicate.

Estimated attackers: 20+.

Leader strength: Enhanced (Peak).

Probability of confrontation: Certain.

I smiled faintly.

"So soon."

I dropped down into the street and waited.

They came like wolves.

Torches flared.

Footsteps thundered.

Twenty-three men surrounded the area, weapons drawn, auras flaring.

At their center stood Qin Mara.

A massive axe rested on his shoulder.

"So you're Zhang Wei," he said, eyes burning."You killed my men."

"They attacked me," I replied calmly.

Qin Mara laughed.

"This is Blackstone," he said."That's not an excuse."

He raised his axe.

"Kill him."

They charged.

I didn't retreat.

Shadow Step activated.

I vanished.

Panic rippled through their formation.

I reappeared in the middle of them.

My elbow crushed a man's spine.

A kick shattered another's knee.

Fear Incarnate surged.

Their movements slowed.

Their courage cracked.

I moved like a shadow.

Every step was domination.

Every strike was final.

Bodies fell one after another.

Blood soaked the ground.

Qin Mara roared and charged, axe blazing with energy.

I met him head-on.

The impact shook the street.

Stone cracked beneath our feet.

He was strong.

Stronger than the others.

But still…

Not enough.

The system chimed.

[DING!]

Elite vs Enhanced detected.

Combat efficiency boosted.

Growth acceleration active.

I ducked under his swing and drove my fist into his ribs.

Bone shattered.

Qin Mara staggered.

I followed with a knee to his chest.

He crashed to the ground.

I stepped on his axe, snapping the handle.

Then I placed my foot on his chest.

The street was silent.

The last few men froze in terror.

Qin Mara coughed blood, eyes wide.

"Y-you'll regret this," he growled.

I leaned down.

"Tell your syndicate something," I said quietly.

"This district is mine."

Then I knocked him unconscious.

The system pulsed violently.

My aura surged.

The remaining men dropped their weapons and ran.

I stood alone in the blood-soaked street.

Blackstone City watched.

And remembered.

By dawn, the message was clear.

Low Iron District had a new ruler.

An independent elite.

One who crushed a syndicate lieutenant in a single night.

Inside Black Fang headquarters, alarms rang.

Kang Yu stared at the report in silence.

"So he chose violence," he murmured.

His eyes gleamed.

"Good."

I stood at the center of my new territory as the sun rose.

The system hovered calmly.

Warning:Major faction response imminent.

I smiled.

Let them come.

Blackstone City had demanded blood.

And I had paid it—

In full.
