Chapter 1 - One reckless night

FIVE YEARS EARLIER

Nyla's pov:

I stepped into the club greeted by the smell of liquor and bad decisions but I didn't care. I was determined to drown my sorrows in alcohol. This had been the worst month of my life.

Besides the fact that my boyfriend of over 3 years cheated on me, I lost my job two weeks ago which led to being kicked out of my family house, which basically contained me, my bed ridden deadbeat dad and my bitchy step mom who decided that I was too much work to have around. I had to move in with Leah my best friend and the only person alive who probably gave shit about me.

"I'm going to have a drink" I called out to Leah who had taken to the dance floor. She was five foot three inches in height with strawberry blonde hair and a pair of warm hazel brown eyes, a complete beauty with a smile that stopped men in their tracks, a body figure that even I secretly admired. Dressed in a shiny black mini dress, she looked absolutely stunning.

I on the other hand had on an oversized crop sweater and baggy sweat pants attracting a lot of awkward stares but I couldn't care less.

"Try not to get drunk" I heard Leah call out before blending into the crowd.

I took a seat by the bar and ordered a glass of tequila. The bar tender gave me a long cold stare before proceeding to pour me a cup.

I gulped it down in seconds overwhelmed by the sweet relief caused by the burning sensation of the liquor down my throat

"Haven't you had too much to drink "came a calm masculine voice. I turned to the side to see this guy dressed in an expensive looking suit.

"aren't u overdressed "I shot back rudely hinting I wasn't interested in any sort of conversation.

I picked up my glass getting up to leave not realizing how drunk I was lost my balance and accidently spilled my whole glass on a stranger standing nearby.

There he stood with above 6 feet tall, brown skinned with short jet-black hair and even darker eyes. He was dressed casually in a pair of jeans and tee shirt that clung to his perfect frame excellently

"you'll have to pay for dry cleaning" he called out in his magnetic voice.

"sorry…. I was trying to get away from…umm this really annoying guy "I managed to say pointing at an empty seat where the guy once sat.

"Is that an excuse not to pay for my dry cleaning" he asked as a mischevious smile formed on his face.

The music from the club was getting a bit too loud so he decided we go up to talk. A stranger inviting me to a rooftop bar to have a conversation should have been a red flag but the club was too loud, and I was too tired to care.

I glanced around the room hoping to see Leah but I didn't, slowly resigning to fate I followed the stranger up an elevator.

"How do u intend on paying for my dry cleaning" he asked with a playful smile on his face when we eventually got to the roof top

I silently hoped he was joking at this point because I barely had enough money for feeding as it was.
