Chapter 49 - Chapter 49: The Candidates

"So the key to victory lies both within Konoha and on the battlefield?"

Hearing Minamikawa Yuu's words, Minato Namikaze was lost in thought, seemingly gaining many new understandings of the current situation.

After the other's explanation, the once-hazy situation seemed to become clear, and the entire picture became transparent.

"A very interesting analysis."

He said with a smile, "Your talent in this area is very strong. If possible, I'd like to hear more of your opinions after we return."

This was a form of expressing his stance, a desire to become closer to Minamikawa Yuu.

Given his current status, this undoubtedly carried some underlying implications.

"It's my honor."

To Minato Namikaze's invitation, Minamikawa Yuu also responded with a smile, "In fact, I have always hoped to further refine my Ninjutsu."

"If I may, I have a presumptuous request. I wonder if Mr. Minato could guide me in Ninjutsu for a period of time?"

His expression was sincere, carrying a look of respect, "If possible, I hope to become Mr. Minato's student."

"This has always been my dream."

For Minamikawa Yuu, this was actually one of his primary goals.

The current Minato Namikaze could be said to be the most promising figure within Konoha.

On the surface, he was currently just a Jonin. Although he had immense prestige due to his performance on the battlefield, there didn't seem to be much difference compared to the former White Fang of Konoha.

While other Jonin certainly differed from him, it hadn't reached the point of a qualitative gap.

This stage was also the best time to invest in him.

If he wanted to become his student, this was basically the last chance.

Because once the other party took that final step and truly became the Fourth Hokage of Konoha, the difficulty of wanting to become his disciple would undoubtedly increase significantly; one could even say it would be impossible under normal circumstances.

Because once a person reaches that position, every move they make becomes different.

The concept represented by being the student of an ordinary Jonin versus the student of the Hokage is completely different.

This was also why Minamikawa Yuu acted out of character and deliberately performed in front of him.

Performing in front of Hiruzen Sarutobi and the others might make them look at him in a new light, but it wouldn't yield many benefits and might even invite huge risks.

After all, by Hiruzen Sarutobi's side, there was still a Scapegoat Kage like Danzo.

If he were accidentally targeted by him, it would be equally troublesome.

Of course, he wasn't afraid.

But Minamikawa Yuu didn't want to do things that offered no benefits.

As for the Minato Namikaze before him, the situation was different.

In terms of status, the other was the future Hokage, and yet he didn't have much of a personal team yet. As long as Minamikawa Yuu gained his trust, there would be many benefits in the future.

In terms of character, there was even less to say; he was equally trustworthy.

Hiruzen Sarutobi might not have much of a problem in terms of character, but unfortunately, he had a friend who was the Scapegoat Kage, which immediately lowered the cost-effectiveness.

Even from the perspective of gaining reincarnation points, getting close to him was a good choice.

After all, as the Fourth Hokage and the father of the future Child of Prophecy, the weight of destiny he carried was quite significant.

As long as Minamikawa Yuu could influence him even slightly, the rewards would definitely not be small.

"You want to become my student?"

Hearing Minamikawa Yuu's words, Minato Namikaze pondered for a moment before nodding, "That's not a bad idea."

"Although my strength is ordinary, I still have some confidence in Ninjutsu."

The smile on his face was warm, "If you're comfortable with it, Yuu, then I will guide you."

Just as Minamikawa Yuu thought highly of Minato Namikaze, he also thought highly of Minamikawa Yuu.

In his view, Minamikawa Yuu possessed exquisite Medical Ninjutsu, which showed that his own talent as a ninja was also excellent.

Having such strategic observation skills was also an extremely excellent trait.

Such a person was destined to have a bright future.

If he could take him as a student now, it would also be very beneficial for him.

Moreover, at this moment, this was one of the few cards he could play.

Although the current Minato Namikaze was a hero of Konoha, the illustrious yellow flash, and held strong prestige among Konoha Ninjas.

In reality, there really wasn't much he could offer right now.

After all, a title like 'Hero of Konoha' might sound grand, but in truth, it was just an empty title.

When it came to tangible benefits he could provide, there were truly not many.

So at this time, winning over subordinates in the name of a student was also a good choice.

After all, in this world, the relationship between master and disciple is the most solid.

As long as Minamikawa Yuu could become his student, he would be destined to be in the same boat with him in the future.

Ultimately, his goal was to become the Hokage.

To become the Hokage, having sufficient strength alone is not enough; one also needs a group of subordinates who support them.

And in this regard, Minato Namikaze was undoubtedly lacking.

Within all of Konoha, those who could firmly support him now, besides his wife Uzumaki Kushina, his teacher Jiraiya, and his disciple Kakashi, probably didn't amount to many.

Under these circumstances, Minamikawa Yuu's joining was also a good addition for him.

"Yuu, what do you think of the current situation within Konoha?"

After their relationship progressed further, Minato Namikaze pondered for a moment and then continued to ask for his opinion, "I mean, the Hokage election..."

In front of Minamikawa Yuu, his new disciple, he did not hide his intention of wanting to become the Hokage.

Of course, there was actually nothing worth hiding about this.

Becoming the Hokage is the common dream of many Konoha Ninjas; there's nothing to hide.

No matter who he was in front of, Minato Namikaze disdained hiding this point.

"The Hokage election seems bustling, but in reality, when it comes down to it, only two people are qualified to compete."

Minamikawa Yuu thought for a moment and then said, "One of them is you, Teacher Minato."

"As for the other person..."

"It's Senior Orochimaru..."

Before Minamikawa Yuu could speak, Minato Namikaze took the lead and gave the answer.

Clearly, he had also thought about this question in private, and he gave the answer without hesitation.

"Correct."

Minamikawa Yuu nodded.

The selection of the Fourth Hokage happened to be stuck at a critical juncture.

At this juncture, there seemed to be many people qualified to run for Fourth Hokage, but in reality, they were all excluded.

Jiraiya has the qualifications to run, but his ambitions do not lie there.

Tsunade has both the qualifications and the seniority; she has everything. It could be said that as long as she was willing to run, no one could compete with her.

But unfortunately, she suffers from hemophobia and is currently in a low period, having no such intention herself.

If Kakashi's father, the White Fang of Konoha, had not died, he would have been qualified to compete.

But he committed suicide.

Other figures such as Danzo Shimura, although they have seniority and intention, ultimately cannot be presented openly.

Currently, those who have the intention to compete and the qualifications to run are only Orochimaru and Minato Namikaze.
