Chapter 20 - Abyssal Vision Tested

The Dead Zone enters full alert.

Under a blood-red sky, Earth's satellites lock onto Raiyen. System displays mark him as an Extreme Threat. From a distant vantage point, the Observer watches closely. This is no longer containment—it is evaluation. The Abyssal Vision is about to be tested.

Raiyen stands still amid the cracked terrain. His Soul Flame burns at minimal output, tightly restrained. His eyes glow with interlocking crimson-black rings, scanning everything at once. Korrin's shadow coils around him, steady and guiding. Raiyen sets his rule clearly: survive, adapt, and do not kill.

The first Earth Defense Agent charges forward, its weight shaking the ground. Before it even moves, Raiyen already knows where it will strike. The Abyssal Vision traces its trajectory seconds ahead. When the agent launches a gravity-augmented punch, Raiyen flips cleanly through the air, forming a thin Soul Flame barrier exactly where impact would have landed.

A second agent rises from beneath the ground, deploying an expanding energy field. Raiyen's vision deepens—he sees energy currents, structural weaknesses in the terrain, and the agents' internal mechanics. Guided by Korrin, he maneuvers both agents into an unstable fissure, containing them without destroying Earth's systems. The Second Point pulses stronger, but remains under control.

The Observer notes the development with concern. The edge is stable—but the instability beneath it is growing.

The battlefield shifts violently. Floating rocks, bending gravity, and red energy fractures turn the Dead Zone into a living hazard. Raiyen moves without panic. His eyes highlight safe zones, predict gravitational distortions, and chart paths milliseconds before they become lethal.

The first agent adapts, generating a pressure field to trap him. The Abyssal Vision instantly identifies microscopic delays in the energy pulse—an escape route invisible to normal perception. Raiyen teleports short distances, guided precisely by his eyes. Earth's system attempts to predict him and fails repeatedly.

More agents converge—three at once, flanking and blocking escape routes. Raiyen pauses, calculating. Distance. Timing. Energy flow. He deploys a non-lethal pulse barrier, pushing the agents back without destabilizing the terrain. The Second Point emits another warning pulse, restrained but insistent.

The Observer frowns and escalates monitoring. Earth responds by weaponizing the environment itself. Gravity distorts unpredictably. The Dead Zone begins to fight as a system.

Raiyen retreats strategically to higher ground, every movement calculated. He isolates the original agent, opening a controlled rift that traps it temporarily. No collapse. No excess damage.

Now, Raiyen understands.

The Abyssal Vision allows him to read intent before execution, predict energy behavior, and exploit system weaknesses—all without abandoning his humanity. He doesn't need to destroy Earth's defenses to win.

But the system is not finished.

The ground erupts as a massive underground Earth Agent surfaces, radiating overwhelming red energy. The Second Point reacts violently. Raiyen's eyes flare brighter than before.

Korrin warns him—this enemy exceeds the current edge.

Raiyen stands firm atop jagged stone, Soul Flame steady, vision absolute.

"Come on, Earth," he murmurs.

"Let's see what you really are."

From afar, the Observer leans forward.

Now, the real test begins.
