Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 Adoption

The next morning, the human and their Pokémon continued their journey.

Around noon, they finally crossed Viridian Forest and arrived at a field.

Entei, carrying Fuyuki on its back, gazed into the distance. At the edge of the field stood a human town.

That was their destination.

Entei planned to leave after delivering Little One there.

But just then, it suddenly heard a sound on its back.

"Coo coo coo!"

Entei: "..."

It silently settled Fuyuki in a safe spot, then turned and dashed into the forest.

Watching Entei's figure disappear from sight, Fuyuki knew that Entei had gone to find food for him again.

Won't...after Entei delivers him to the human town, they will be separated, right?

He and Entei had spent three days together, and Entei had taken care of him for three days.

Fuyuki felt quite reluctant to part with this intelligent, reliable, and caring Pokémon.

What will become of him now?

All told, Fuyuki has only been in this world for less than ten months. His parents are gone, and he's too old to live alone.

Furthermore, he has no grandparents or other relatives. In the end, he'll have no choice but to be sent to an orphanage.

How tragic.

"Sigh!" Fuyuki couldn't help but sigh.

"Hiss—!" From the grass, a slender, about one-meter-long purple snake-like Pokémon silently moved towards Fuyuki's location.

It was Arbok.

This was an immature Arbok. Its eyes were locked on its prey, while its tongue flicked, sensing the prey's scent and the surrounding danger.

A perfect opportunity!

The prey hadn't noticed its arrival, and there was no danger around!

Arbok keenly realized this was a perfect opportunity to attack. It silently circled behind its prey, preparing to strike, when a furious roar came from nearby. Entei had just returned from outside, carrying a few berries, when it saw a wild Pokémon preparing to hunt a tiny creature.

Its eyes widened in fury, and its voice boomed like thunder, "Get out of the here!"

A terrifying pressure emanated from it.

Arbok, sensing the danger, immediately abandoned its hunt in panic, turned, and darted into the grass, quickly disappearing from sight.

When Fuyuki realized something was wrong and turned around, he only saw Arbok's tail.

Entei, still carrying the berries, quickly walked to Fuyuki, placed them in front of him, and then looked up in the direction Arbok had fled.

Fuyuki belatedly realized that the Arbok had mistaken him for prey and was about to hunt him!

The wild Pokémon world… indeed, there are still some dangers!

"It's alright now," Entei's solemn voice resonated in Fuyuki's mind.

Entei withdrew its gaze, then sat down opposite Fuyuki, looking at him with a stern expression.

Fuyuki breathed a sigh of relief. Thank goodness Entei was there…

This was the second time Entei had saved him.

Without Entei, he would probably be dead with his parents in that car.

But, looking at Entei before him, and the town standing in the plains behind Entei,

Fuyuki knew that the moment of parting was approaching.

"Sigh!" If only he were a trainer, he could capture Entei and stay with it forever, Fuyuki couldn't help but think.

Unfortunately, that was impossible.

He sighed silently, eating the berry with mixed feelings.

Entei had already stood up from the grass and was waiting for him.

Fuyuki reached out and hugged Entei tightly.

Feeling the little guy's movement, Entei was slightly taken aback.

It silently looked at the little guy before it, whose mood was somewhat downcast, and couldn't help but feel a little stunned. Was the little one also reluctant to part with it?

Entei remained silent, saying nothing. It simply picked up the little one's clothes, tossed it onto its back, and then ran towards the human town.

This time, Entei didn't stop to rest. Carrying Fuyuki, it soon arrived at the human town.

"We're here. This is where you should be." Entei, carrying Fuyuki, placed him on the street.

It was a very small town.

It was midday, and most of the townspeople were having lunch at home; there was hardly a soul to be seen outside.

Looking at the unfamiliar surroundings, Fuyuki had no idea where he was.

It didn't seem like Viridian City; it was more like a remote town in the countryside, like Pallet Town.

Fuyuki looked around, surveying his surroundings.

But when he looked back at Entei, he only saw its back.

Entei had turned around at some point, seemingly preparing to leave.

Fuyuki froze, staring intently at Entei.

Entei continued walking forward, outwardly calm, but its mind was in turmoil.

Scenes from the past three days spent with Little One flashed through its mind.

Little One's adorable feeding it berries, Little One curled up peacefully in its arms, Little One waiting for its return… It was so dependent on it.

Perhaps Little One had already considered it family.

Entei had never felt this way before; it was a feeling completely foreign to it.

It was leaving. Would Little One cry?

Its parents had left this world to protect their Pokémon; Little One now had no family.

And all of this was for the protection of their Pokémon.

A flicker of doubt crossed Entei's heart.

It paused slightly, then turned to look behind it.

The little guy sat alone, staring unblinkingly at it, seemingly not understanding why it had abandoned him there.

The little guy looked both pitiful and foolish.

Entei froze.

Voices echoed in Entei's mind, constantly admonishing it.

"The little guy has no family anymore. Even if he returns to human territory, he'll have nowhere to go."

"The little guy's parents died protecting Pokémon, so we Pokémon should take care of their child."

"If I just leave like this, the little guy will definitely cry his heart out, won't he?" Entei gritted its teeth, closed its eyes, and after a brief struggle, made a decision.

It reopened its eyes, turned around, ran to the little guy, gently picked up his clothes from behind, and carried him away from the town without looking back.

Fuyuki: "?"
