Takoda suddenly glanced toward him again, still smiling brightly from their earlier exchange. "Daddy." The title hit differently this time. Less jarring.
Kade lifted his gaze toward her lazily. "What?"
Takoda suddenly looked toward him again, still holding two pairs of boots. "Daddy." Kade lifted his gaze fully toward her. "Which one looks stronger? Which one looks better?"
He stared briefly at the tiny boots in her hands and answered honestly. "The black pair."
Takoda hesitated briefly before holding up the black boots proudly. "You really think these look stronger?"
Kade looked at the tiny combat-style boots seriously for a second before nodding once. "They'll last longer, too."
Takoda's eyes lit up instantly. "See!" she yelled triumphantly toward Dakota. "Daddy agrees with me!"
Dakota rolled her eyes dramatically. "Congratulations. The two tyrants are united."
