Chapter 21 - Please Lend Me a Little of Your Energy!

After a while, Peter walked out of the Pokémon Center with a look of lingering shock on his face.

"…Nurse Joy was way too enthusiastic," he muttered, twitching at the corner of his mouth.

He hadn't expected Pokéblocks with specialized training effects to be this popular on the market.

Standard stamina-recovery Pokéblocks sold for about 500 Poké Dollars each, but the ones that boosted both offensive stats or Speed went for 1,000 Poké Dollars, while those enhancing both defenses still fetched 800 Poké Dollars apiece.

Just like that, Peter walked away with around 250,000 Poké Dollars from Nurse Joy alone, bringing his total assets to 300,000 Poké Dollars.

After restocking on Berries, he hugged Smoliv and opened the system's training interface.

[Ding! Training target: Smoliv. Analyzing…]

Strengths & Weaknesses Analysis:

Exceptionally gifted—one-in-ten-thousand within its species. Its trust in the Trainer stems from your environmental protection actions; be sure to maintain this bond. Skill coverage is excellent, but proficiency is low. Upon full evolution, it will gain an even stronger Ability.

Summary:

A naturally talented little one. It is strongly recommended to invest resources and evolve it to its final form as soon as possible.

…..

Peter finished reading in one go and couldn't help but marvel at the system's power.

Other Trainers had to put their Pokémon through brutal, backbreaking routines just to master a move.

With him? Watching TV Series, singing songs, and playing games was enough.

Ridiculously easy.

Without hesitation, Peter recalled his second partner into its Poké Ball and returned to his room, collapsing onto the bed.

He still had two hours of Dream Space time unused today.

After a few days of experimentation, he'd learned that Pokémon were physically transported into the Dream Space—not just their consciousness—ensuring that training and simulated battles actually counted.

The moment they arrived, Buneary smoothly powered on the console and hopped onto a gaming chair.

Lately, the little rabbit had become obsessed with a sappy romance soap opera and was completely engrossed.

Peter didn't interfere. In this place, entertainment was apparently just another path to getting stronger.

"Mi-no~"

Smoliv tilted its head at Buneary, then clumsily hopped onto a gaming chair of its own.

Peter was about to guide Smoliv into starting game-based training when—

He froze.

Smoliv… had no hands.

"…Wait. How are you supposed to play games like this?!"

Still in its seed form, Smoliv wouldn't grow branch-like arms until evolving into Dolliv.

"Mi-no?"

It bounced twice, gazing at the screen with eager anticipation.

Defeated, Peter sighed and switched on Dragon Ball, skipping straight to the Spirit Bomb scenes.

Gaming would have to wait until after evolution.

Once Smoliv was settled in to watch carefully and learn, Peter brought Buneary into the adjacent simulation arena.

"System, start battle matchmaking!"

[Ding! Match found. Opponent: Chimchar lv20. This is an over-level challenge. Victory will grant bonus rewards!]

A small orange-red Pokémon with flames flickering from its rear appeared, curiously scanning the space. A vague shadow—its Trainer—stood behind it.

Peter raised an eyebrow.

Level 20—this opponent wasn't weak.

"Buneary, stay sharp. This one's strong!"

"Chimchar, Flame Wheel!"

The opposing Trainer opened aggressively. Chimchar engulfed itself in flames, transforming into a blazing wheel that charged forward!

Peter barely blinked.

"Quick Attack to evade—then Charm!"

Buneary winked cutely, pink heart-shaped energy drifting toward Chimchar as its Attack sharply dropped.

Charm: Uses an adorable gaze to lower the opponent's Attack by two stages.

This move, incidentally, was something Buneary had learned by copying the female lead in soap operas… usually used to beg Peter for snacks.

"Hmph. Use Taunt!"

Chimchar mocked Buneary, hooking a finger and making faces.

Taunt: Prevents the opponent from using non-damaging moves for a short time—soft control, similar to Encore.

Peter smiled faintly.

"Then let's play along. Close in—Power-Up Punch!"

"Mi-kyu~!"

Buneary looked almost excited as it bounded forward, eager for close combat.

"Flame Wheel again!"

The opponent chose to brute-force through the debuff.

"Boom!"

Chimchar once more became a rolling inferno, hurtling straight at Buneary.

Right on cue, Peter commanded, "Change speed!"

"Mi-kyu!"

Buneary bent its left leg, abruptly slowing—then stomped hard with the right.

In an instant, it slipped to the side of the blazing wheel.

The next moment—

Two rabbit-ear fists slammed out.
