Jay's POV
I came back to Keifer's unit with him.
I still couldn't believe Drew had betrayed us.
I think I should talk to him.
"Jay, babe, we're here," Keifer said gently.
I nodded as he got out of the car, walked over to my side, and opened the door for me.
"Babe, are you okay?" he asked.
I nodded again.
We entered the elevator, and Keifer pressed the button for our floor. As the doors closed, he wrapped an arm around my waist and gently pulled me closer.
"What happened? Are you thinking about Drew?" he asked softly.
I slowly nodded.
"I mean, Keifer... I felt so hurt when I found out about the baby. But it turned out it wasn't true. I should be happy, but I..." I couldn't continue because I didn't even know what I was feeling.
Soon, we reached our floor.
As we opened the apartment door, we saw Kerein and Kegain sitting on the floor, laughing together while drawing.
"Ate! Kuya!" Kerein shouted happily before running over and hugging us.
I smiled and ruffled his hair.
"What happened? Why do you both look like this?" Kegain asked.
Keifer gave him a small look, and he immediately understood. He quietly led Kerein back into the room.
I walked toward the kitchen and saw a few maids preparing dinner.
Keifer had hired them to look after Kerein and Kegain for two days while we were staying at Sir Alvin's house.
Soon, everyone came out, and we had dinner together.
After dinner, Keifer and I went to our room. He wrapped his arms around me as we cuddled together until we fell asleep.
---
The next morning, we woke up early and got ready for school.
Today was our exam, so the whole morning was spent revising and stressing over it.
Finally, the exams were over.
I let out a long sigh of relief.
Just then, Keifer walked over to me.
"Babe, I have some important work to do. Please go home with Percy today, okay?" he said.
I nodded.
He kissed my cheek before leaving.
The students from Section E immediately started teasing me.
"Aww, look at them!"
"So sweet!"
I rolled my eyes before my gaze landed on Drew.
He was sitting alone with his head lowered.
I think I should talk to him.
Soon, everyone began leaving the classroom.
Once the hallway was almost empty, I quietly followed Drew.
I watched him walk into a small street before stopping in front of a modest house.
He knocked on the gate, and a little fourteen-year-old girl opened it.
I followed him inside.
"Kuya, is she with you?" the girl asked.
Drew turned around, saw me, and froze.
"What the... Jay? Why are you here? Keifer is going to kill me."
I completely ignored him and smiled at the little girl.
She smiled back warmly.
"Please come in."
I entered the house and noticed an elderly woman sitting on the floor.
A chessboard lay in front of her, but she simply stared at it without making a move.
"Your mom?" I whispered to Drew.
He nodded sadly.
I smiled and waved at her, but she didn't seem to notice me.
A moment later, the little girl returned with two glasses of water.
She handed one to me and the other to Drew.
I thanked her before sitting down.
Drew slowly began explaining his mother's condition.
"My dad left us... He ran away with all our money. After that... Mom's mental health kept getting worse."
My heart ached as I listened.
Then he told me everything about Ram and how he had been threatened.
I understood why he had done it...
But I still wished he had asked us for help instead of facing everything alone.
The next two hours passed as we talked.
I became friends with Drew's little sister, and we even exchanged phone numbers.
Before I knew it, I looked at the clock.
"Oh no..."
It was getting late.
"If I don't leave now, Keifer is seriously going to kill me."
I stood up and smiled.
"Thank you for telling me the truth."
Drew nodded.
"No... thank you for forgiving me."
I waved goodbye and was about to leave when Drew suddenly noticed something outside.
His expression immediately changed.
"Wait here," he said.
He walked to the corner of the room and quietly made a phone call.
"What happened?" I asked.
He quickly put his phone away and forced a smile.
"Nothing. Your ride is coming."
He gently made me sit back down.
A few minutes later...
A black SUV stopped abruptly in front of Drew's house.
The driver's door flew open.
Keifer stepped out, his face cold and filled with anger.
I stood up immediately.
"K-Keifer..."
His sharp eyes met mine.
"Jay!"
The way he said my name made me freeze.
Without another word, he walked straight toward me, grabbed my wrist firmly, and started pulling me toward the gate.
"K-Keifer... wait!"
I tried to stop him.
"Keifer, you're hurting me."
He didn't respond.
"Drew..."
I looked back at Drew helplessly.
Drew lowered his head, knowing it was best not to interfere.
Keifer opened the passenger door of the SUV.
"Get in."
His voice was cold.
I hesitated.
"Keifer, please listen to me—"
"I said..."
He looked at me with an expression I had never seen before.
"Get. In."
I quietly got into the passenger seat.
He shut the door firmly before walking around to the driver's side.
The engine roared to life.
Without saying a single word, Keifer drove away.
The silence inside the car was heavier than any argument.
I glanced at him several times.
His hands gripped the steering wheel so tightly that his knuckles had turned white.
His jaw was clenched.
He didn't even look at me.
"...Keifer."
No response.
"I'm sorry."
Nothing.
Only the sound of the engine filled the car as he kept his eyes fixed on the road.
For the first time...
His silence scared me more than his shouting ever could.
