Item #: SCP-001 "The Man"

Object Class: Thaumiel

Risk Class: Danger

Special Containment Procedures:

No direct containment procedures can be implemented for SCP-001. Any attempts of proper containment for SCP-001 has been unsuccessful. (See addendum Scp-001 - A).

Any attempts to use force against SCP-001 are strictly prohibited. Personnel found initiating hostile action will be immediately detained and subject to termination-level disciplinary measures, as aggressive behavior toward SCP-001 has been assessed to carry an extremely high probability of triggering an Enraged State.

Avoidance of provocation is to be considered a top containment priority.

Instead, SCP-001 is to be continuously monitored within a minimum radius of 100 meters at all times.

Any personnel attempting unauthorized communication or contact with SCP-001 will be immediately restrained, formally reprimanded, and subjected to temporary demotion to Class-E status pending disciplinary review.

In the event that SCP-001 is approached or contacted by any known Groups of Interest (GoI), Foundation personnel are to immediately initiate Alpha-Level Evacuation Protocols for all non-combatant staff within the affected area.

All available combat-ready personnel are to enter high-alert containment posture and prepare for the possibility of SCP-001 entering an Enraged State (See addendum Scp-001 -B), characterized by rapid escalation of anomalous activity and heightened threat potential.

Monitoring operations must involve no fewer than 100–400 Mobile Task Force personnel, including but not limited to:

MTF Epsilon-11 ("Nine-Tailed Fox")

MTF Nu-7 ("Hammer Down")

MTF Beta-7 ("Maz Hatters")

MTF Eta-10 ("See No Evil")

MTF Lambda-5 ("White Rabbits")

MTF Sigma-66 ("Sixteen Tons")

MTF Mu-4 ("Debuggers")

MTF Iota-10 ("Damn Feds")

Additional task forces may be deployed as required depending on SCP-001's behavioral changes.

Under no circumstances is direct interaction permitted without O5-level authorization.

Description:

SCP-001 is a humanoid entity of unknown origin and indeterminate gender. The entity's physical appearance is generally consistent with that of a human adult; however, its height has been observed to vary between 1.73 meters and 1.88 meters (5'8" - 6'2") without any visible physical transformation process.

SCP-001 appears to manifest spontaneously, seemingly materializing from an unknown source or location. No evidence of conventional transportation, teleportation signatures, or dimensional distortions has been detected during these manifestations.

The first recorded observation of SCP-001 occurred on [DATA EXPUNGED], though evidence suggests the entity may have been active prior to this date.

SCP-001 demonstrates a wide range of anomalous abilities. Notably, these abilities closely resemble those exhibited by various contained SCP entities across multiple Foundation Sites and Areas.

The exact extent, limitations, and mechanisms behind SCP-001's capabilities remain unknown.

Addendum 001-A: Record of Containment Attempts

The following log summarizes all authorized attempts to establish direct containment procedures for SCP-001.

All attempts were conducted under O5 supervision and with full Mobile Task Force support.

———————————————————

Attempt 001: Chemical Sedation & Transport

Procedure:

SCP-001 was covertly exposed to a high-potency aerosol sedative mixture designed for use on large-scale humanoid anomalies. Upon apparent loss of consciousness, MTF Nu-7 ("Hammer Down") initiated transport protocols.

Result:

Within approximately 12 seconds, SCP-001 regained full mobility despite dosages exceeding lethal human limits by a factor of ███. SCP-001 demonstrated temporary anomalous resistance to all known chemical agents.

Outcome:

Transport operation was aborted. SCP-001 did not enter an enraged state but exhibited clear awareness of the containment attempt. All further sedation efforts were suspended indefinitely.

———————————————————

Attempt 002 — Forced Physical Containment

Procedure:

Multiple Mobile Task Forces initiated a coordinated forced-containment operation utilizing kinetic suppression weaponry, electromagnetic restraints, and reinforced portable containment barriers.

Result:

Upon detection of hostile intent, SCP-001 immediately entered an Enraged State. During this state, SCP-001 did not directly attack personnel. Instead, the entity underwent rapid anomalous transformations, sequentially assuming physical and behavioral characteristics identical to several high-threat SCP entities.

Documented transformations included:

SCP-096-Type Manifestation:

SCP-001's body elongated and emaciated, displaying extreme agitation and erratic movement patterns consistent with known behavioral profiles. Personnel reported intense psychological distress despite no direct visual trigger protocol being confirmed.

SCP-173-Type Manifestation:

SCP-001's body structure hardened into a rigid, statue-like form. During this phase, the entity demonstrated rapid displacement when not under direct observation, resulting in multiple severe injuries among MTF personnel.

SCP-049-Type Manifestation:

SCP-001 assumed physical resemblance and movement patterns matching those of SCP-049. During this stage, SCP-001 attempted physical contact with nearby personnel while vocalizing statements consistent with previously recorded SCP-049 speech patterns.

Outcome:

The operation resulted in catastrophic containment failure and ██ casualties. SCP-001 ceased transformations and returned to baseline form after approximately █ minutes before vacating the area autonomously.

Additional Observations:

Despite the severity of the incident, post-operation analysis indicates that SCP-001 did not demonstrate lethal intent toward Foundation personnel. All recorded casualties were the result of indirect trauma, defensive reactions, or environmental hazards caused during the Enraged State.

Personnel reports consistently describe SCP-001's behavior during the event as deterrent and intimidation-focused, prioritizing incapacitation rather than termination. Injuries sustained by affected staff were primarily non-fatal and consistent with force levels intended to neutralize threats rather than eliminate them.

This behavior has led to the current working hypothesis that SCP-001's Enraged State functions primarily as a defensive response mechanism rather than an inherently hostile attack mode.

O5 COMMAND DIRECTIVE — PRIORITY ALPHA

From: O5 Council

To: All Site Directors, MTF Commanders, and Containment Personnel

Subject: Immediate Suspension of All SCP-001 Containment Testing

Effective immediately, all experimental containment procedures involving SCP-001 are to be permanently suspended.

This order follows repeated operational failures, unacceptable personnel losses, and conclusive evidence that any attempt at forced containment, sedation, or hostile engagement significantly increases the probability of triggering SCP-001's Enraged State.

Current data indicates that SCP-001 does not exhibit baseline hostile intent and functions primarily in a defensive capacity when provoked. Continued attempts at active containment are therefore classified as unnecessary, counterproductive, and strategically hazardous to Foundation stability.

From this point forward, SCP-001 is to be managed exclusively under Passive Observation Protocols. No personnel, regardless of rank or clearance level, are authorized to initiate contact, testing, or containment actions without a unanimous O5 Council override.

Any violation of this directive will be treated as a Level-5 breach of command authority and will result in immediate disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Remember:

SCP-001 is not to be contained.

SCP-001 is to be watched.

— THE O5 COUNCIL
