Chapter 3 - A Calamity That Threatened The World

But thinking about it, they were not opponents his current self could contend with.

However, the present is the present, and the future is the future.

After drinking the Positive-Energy Chicken Soup, Lan felt as though he could do it again.

"Damn it, I forgot to test the Dark-Dark Fruit's special ability!"

Only then did Lan recall that the Dark-Dark Fruit could seize the will of a Devil Fruit.

But the person was already dead, so he could only sigh regretfully in his heart.

"It seems I'll have to carry more fruits around in the future."

[Killed the Devil Fruit user, Alvin, achieved 2-Star Milestone.]

[Hunting fodder Devil Fruit user, obtained the 2-Star Reward: The Dark-Dark Fruit's attack range has been enhanced.]

"This reward..."

Frowning slightly, Lan felt something was off.

Judging by this trend... Why did he feel like he was about to become a calamity that threatened the world?

Then he quickly suppresses the chaotic thoughts in his mind.

On the way back to the tavern, Lan once again thought of the newly acquired system, and a self-mocking smile appeared on his face.

"I thought that night, twenty years ago, I'd awaken the Sharingan. Never thought I'd reach a turning point in life at thirty."

"Purururu!"

"Click… Gacha!"

"It's me, Lan."

Lillian's voice came from the Den Den Mushi.

"A young man came to the tavern looking for you. He claims to be the owner of the Basil Chamber of Commerce and a famous genius magician in the North Blue."

Basil Chamber of Commerce?

He had heard of this chamber of commerce. Its owner was the magician, Basil Hawkins.

Lan did not understand why the other party was looking for him.

According to his memory, the other party should be a pirate.

A pirate looking for a bounty hunter?

Wasn't that like lighting a lantern in the toilet?

After a brief but fruitless consideration, Lan quickened his pace back to the tavern.

...

Half an hour later.

[Lemon Tavern]

"Hey, isn't that guy the young master of the Basil Chamber of Commerce?"

"That outfit... And that deck of tarot cards! It's definitely him!!"

"That guy is worth 2.5 million belly in the underworld. I'll… Bang!"

A pirate who was just about to make a move suddenly had his head pressed down by a companion beside him.

"Jessica, you bastard, you actually dare to do this to me...!?"

"Shut up, Kendall!"

The one-eyed pirate called Jessica had cold sweat streaming down his forehead, and there was more fear in his gaze toward the main door.

He forcefully pulled his companion, who was unwilling to leave.

"Hurry up, get up. We're leaving through the back door!"

"I didn't expect that bounty hunter to come back again! Damn it, didn't he go after the Black Tiger Pirates?!"

Kendall slapped away the dirty hand gripping his wrist, touched his bald head as he stood up, and a ferocious smile surged onto his flesh-covered face.

"I want to see who it is..."

"You look like you're about to die."

At this moment, the blond young man sitting in the corner of the hall suddenly spoke, interrupting him.

"I have just divined your future, pirate Kendall Levy."

"Your probability of death is as high as..."

"100%."

As soon as the words fell, Kendall, who was looking at Hawkins and was about to shout, instead heard several cat cries echoing in his ears.

"What the hell is this!? Cats? Get lost… Boom!!"

"Cough! What... Time is it..."

Looking at the pirate whose upper body was scorched black and who had fallen to the ground, Hawkins shook his head.

"My divinations have never been wrong. If I say you would face death, it means great calamity is already upon you."

Ignoring the many drinkers who scattered like startled birds and beasts, Hawkins stood up after retracting the tarot card at the tip of his straw threads.

With his right hand lightly pressing the coat over his heart, he slightly bowed to the burly mink man who walked into the tavern.

"Nice to meet you for the first time, Mr. Lan."

"I am the owner of the Basil Chamber of Commerce, Basil Hawkins."

Basil Hawkins…

Lan walked to the table where Hawkins was seated and sat down, then he sized up the man who calmly met his gaze.

"Your killing intent is far too obvious."

Perhaps sensing Lan's greed, Hawkins drew a tarot card.

The card depicted the wheel of fortune surrounded by many things.

"The wheel of fortune. It guided me to this small island."

Listening to Hawkins's fortune-teller-like self-introduction, Lan's expression turned strange.

In his memories, this guy had always been a charlatan-like figure. He did not expect that encountering him in reality would be a one-hundred-percent recreation.

"I am not a pirate."

As soon as these words were spoken, the killing intent diminished somewhat.

Hawkins stuffed the wheel of fortune back into the deck and, with lowered brows and obedient eyes, stated the true reason he was seeking Lan.

"I divined for myself."

"If I became a pirate and went to sea, it would show the face of death."

"On the contrary, whether I became a merchant or joined the Marines, my survival probability would approach 80%."

"This is very strange. In the divination results, if I became a pirate and went to sea, the probability of leaving the North Blue alive would be only 1%."

"For the Marines it would be 50%, as for bounty hunters..."

"The survival probability would be 99%."

"Through a series of calculations and divinations, fate guided me to this island."

With a light flick of his left-hand fingers, Hawkins retrieved his tarot cards and, as if performing magic, produced a paper bounty notice.

Lan glanced at the owner on the bounty notice: "An underworld bounty."

[Lan, Mink Tribe, bounty hunter, bounty: 4.44 million belly]

Hawkins nodded, pushed the bounty notice on the table toward the man.

"You should have offended the nobles of the North Blue. The source of this bounty notice comes from the Wine Kingdom; they are die-hard allies of the Germa Kingdom."

Lan moved the bounty notice aside and raised his head to look at the man across the table.

"So, you found me just to tell me this information?"

"This is merely my letter of allegiance."

Hawkins raised his right fist to his lips and coughed lightly.
