5 Minutes Before Leon Arrived
"Listen, girl, just give us the money, and we won't have to hurt you," One of the men, a guy holding what seems to have a pouch in his hands, says. "If you hand it over i could... simply forget about what you did to my brothers over there." He points behind him, where 2 boys, about the same age as the girl, one has a black eye and the other has some bruises on his body. "So," He grabs her by the face, his hand and the pouch covering most of her left side, "What will it be?" As he begins to pull out a knife from his other hand with this bluish sigil on it. The girl's eyes widen as she struggles harder to escape his grasp, kicking and flailing.
The other guy, who seems to just be watching the outside of the alleyway, looks at the other brother before silently letting him know, "Yo, a lot of people are starting to gather outside, hurry up and get whatever you want before we get c—"
As the other guy turns around completely, he sees the guy with the pouch frozen in place, almost glistening as his body becomes brittle. "Wait!" he says, shocked, "what's going on—"
The White-Haired girl, now using her Kyvina Attribute, Frost, froze the guy in front of her before kicking him in the side. It was a swift motion, but, due to how brittle he was, on impact—
It sounded as if glass shattered.
The man's body shattered into millions of tiny fragments of ice, and whatever was inside his body wasn't frozen; it exploded out in his body in this mess of blood, covering the wall behind the man, and some on the girl.
Present, Seconds After Leon Arrived
As I looked into the alleyway, I saw 4 people: a girl who's covered in blood, 2 sobbing kids, around the same age as I, and the girl, and an older man, seemingly frozen in place form shocked.
"What's... going on here?"
The girl wipes off the blood from her before walking towards me, seemingly unfazed by the scene before her. Now, looking at me, she starts to introduce herself and explain the situation.
"I am Sinen Nihil, currently a student at Selvasta Intermediate School, along with those two boys over there." Giving a side eye, slightly turning towards the 2 boys, "Who frequently harass the students they deem too weak to attend the academy. I, seeing the injustice in their actions, defend some students by simply subduing them and waiting for some teachers to take them. Due to no magic being allowed outside of classes, I had to bruise them slightly."
After she takes a second to breathe, I quickly cut in, having my own question to ask.
"Alright, I understand that, but please explain to me why you were covered in blood, and why..." I point over to the man and the 2 boys standing farther back in the alleyway, "They seem so depressed over it."
The girl sighs before walking over to the bloody pool, picking up a knife, covered in blood. Walking back over to me, she starts to explain.
"I'm going to make this short, basically, their older brother, a fairly strong Unit Member, wanted me to pay for what I did to his brothers, in cash." She shows me the pouch, now slightly broken. " He had grabbed me by the face. I may be strong, but against an older, trained man, he had me pinned, before pulling out," She brings the knife into better view. "This"
Starting to better understand the situation, I take a second to process her words to then come to the understanding that:
"So you felt threatened, so you used your own weapon to stab him, hence why there's blood, and he ran away, the others are worried, and they are kinda... confused."
After saying that, the girl laughs before correcting me
"No, he pulled out the knife and stabbed me, so I basically did this." She freezes the knife brittle before crushing it
After watching this, I take another look at the scene behind her, now coming to the correct realisation:
"You used your attribute in self-defence to kill him, now I get it," I go up to her, putting a hand on her shoulder, a more serious expression coming over my face "But you do realise you killed him, right?"
The girl nods, although more sombre, before quietly saying, "I tried everything else before doing it; they just... wouldn't listen to reason"
Understanding the situation now, I walk over to the trio, now calmer, hoping they are willing to speak.
"Now, I know you are mad, but you need to understand—"
The older one, furious, grabs me by the collar and lowers me slightly. "UNDERSTAND WHAT, THE FACT THAT... THAT GIRL," He glares at the girl. "SHE KILLED HIM, IN COLD BLOOD!"
After allowing him to speak, I rip his arm off my collar, ripping it slightly. "Aw man, this is one of my better shirts," I regain composure as I look at him with understanding "As I was saying, I understand you're mad, but due to the circumstances. With Sinen having the right of lethal self-defence, because she is both a minor, and the fact that as a unit member, your friend, and their older brother, was considered to be a weapon first, if attacking civilians."
The man looks at me closely, the look in his eyes weighing his options, before pulling out a knife and pushing past me, aiming to kill the girl.
"You Fucking Bitch!" He lifts the knife above his head, getting ready to stab her as soon as he reaches her.
Without another thought, I use my Kyvina Attribute, Nature, as 5 vine-line tendrils spring from my fingers and latch onto his arms, legs, and neck, stopping the man about an inch from Sinen.
"Listen, man, I know it hurts to watch your friend die, but killing her isnt going to fix what happened to him. If anything, walk off now, and do your best to live your life."
After about 3 minutes, the man drops the knife as I slowly let him go. As he passes by me, he gives me a slight "thank you" before helping the 2 kids out and heading out the alleyway's other side, vanishing into the darkness.
Heading over to Sinen, who's still bleeding a fair bit from the earlier incident, I grab her gently, making sure not to hurt her as I take her back to the closest hospital to get her patched up.
