Chapter 47 - Chapter 47: Speech Draft

Flandre Scarlet pointed at the script and said, "Do you think these words sound like something someone my age would say?"

After hearing Flandre's words, Chen Huijie picked up the speech draft. After reading it, her expression stiffened slightly. Beatrice Swire snatched it over, took a glance, and couldn't help but laugh.

"Ha~ This speech is so bland and formulaic, it's clearly the work of those old geezers, right?"

Chen Huijie also felt the speech draft was utterly ridiculous. "Wait a moment, there's still time. I'll revise it right away."

Chen Huijie picked up the speech draft, started highlighting the key points, and then, under Beatrice's astonished gaze, completely rewrote it in the tone of a little girl.

"Pink Sausage Dragon... when did you learn to do this!"

Chen Huijie turned to look at Beatrice. "Back when I helped someone write a letter of apology."

Beatrice's face instantly flushed red. "You're going to die, Pink Sausage Dragon."

"What did you do, Char Siu Cat!" Chen Huijie said, then lowered her head and started writing again. Beatrice huffed and turned her head, only to see Hoshiguma and Flandre Scarlet each holding a donut, sitting on the sofa watching them.

"What are you looking at? Go eat your food!"

When Little Tiger shows her might, no one dares treat her as a sick cat. The two lowered their heads, munching on their donuts while pricking up their ears, trying to continue listening to Beatrice and Chen Huijie's argument.

Beatrice wasn't foolish either. She didn't speak, just stood there with her arms crossed, staring intently at Chen Huijie. Just as the two eating donuts finally finished their food, Chen Huijie also finished polishing the response draft. She handed the draft to Flandre Scarlet.

"Now, see if this works?"

[Question: Miss Flandre Scarlet, why did you choose to stay in Lungmen?]

[Answer: Because Governor Uncle is very nice, and the uncles and aunties at the Guard Department are also very nice. I really like it here, so when Governor Uncle asked if I was willing to stay, I agreed.]

The other questions were similar, instantly transforming a very official and rigid speech draft into the innocent responses of a little girl. Flandre Scarlet nodded, and then the two prepared to go out.

"By the way, where did you go today? I didn't see you all day?" While Flandre Scarlet was looking at the speech draft, Chen Huijie turned to Beatrice.

Beatrice complained that the Guard Department hadn't prepared clothes for Flandre Scarlet, so she had taken her shopping at various clothing stores all day.

"It's true that nothing was prepared," Hoshiguma answered from the side. "But Flandre looks like a child after all. Even though she was hired as an expert due to her special abilities, having her wear Guard Department clothes would look a bit odd."

"So, what clothes did you choose?" Chen Huijie asked.

"We had them shipped back by car. We'll work overtime tonight to try them on, and we should be able to barely put together an outfit." Beatrice said calmly.

"Car?" Chen Huijie thought of this person's habits and suddenly had a bad feeling. She turned to look at Flandre Scarlet. "How many clothes did this Char Siu Cat buy for you?"

"I don't know!" Flandre Scarlet replied.

"What do you mean, you don't know?" Chen Huijie looked at Beatrice, who at that moment turned her head away, clearly not wanting to say.

"It's just a lot, a whole lot, too many to count!" Flandre Scarlet spread her hands and made a circle, then continued, "Every time we went to a mall, Beatrice sister would almost pack an entire truckload of clothes, so Flandre couldn't possibly calculate how many pieces there were."

Chen Huijie turned to look at Beatrice. "What, are you planning to have Flandre switch careers and become a children's clothing wholesaler?"

"I just wanted Flandre to have more choices by buying more!" Beatrice said with her head held high, though lacking confidence.

"A truckload of clothes from every mall, and you still say you weren't stocking up?" Chen Huijie slapped the table, startling Beatrice into retreating several steps. Then, feeling her reaction was embarrassing, she boldly stepped forward again.

"What's wrong? You're too stingy to buy clothes for Flandre, so I'm not allowed to buy them?"

... Chen Huijie looked back with an expression that said, "Don't think I don't know what you're up to."

"Can you even call that buying clothes?" Chen Huijie glanced at Flandre Scarlet, who was still sitting nearby, and held back her urge to curse. "Forget it, I'll go back with you later. We must choose the clothes as quickly as possible."

"No, I don't like you. You can't come into my house!" Beatrice immediately bristled.

"Char Siu Cat, get this straight: that's the place Governor Wei arranged for Flandre to stay, not your home!" Chen Huijie reminded through gritted teeth.

"Ah? Is that so! Hehe, I forgot!"

After realizing, Beatrice tried to act cute to get away with it... "Let's go, home!" Seeing that both were ready, Hoshiguma reached out, picked up Flandre Scarlet, and took the lead, walking ahead. The two walking behind watched as Flandre was carried away, speechless. "That Hoshiguma!"

On the way out of the Guard Department, many people saw Flandre being carried by Hoshiguma.

"That child looks really cute, and those 'crystals' hanging under her bat wings are quite pretty too." An Operator sighed.

"Cute she is, but terrifying she is too. Remember those guys who were brought back alive? Only one wasn't completely insane, but he can't stand the sight of anything red. The others, according to the psychologists, have all gone mad." Someone brought up the earlier major case.

"But you can't blame her, right? The transcripts are very detailed. At most, the girl just scared them a bit; it was their own people who acted." Someone spoke up for Flandre Scarlet.

"If you were on the battlefield and suddenly couldn't see your hand in front of your face, with enemies whispering in your ear, wouldn't you be scared? And don't forget, those people in the destroyed car we saw on the way to that village... tsk tsk, completely petrified by Originium, died horribly." The person next to them continued.

"It's their own fault for attacking first. Officer Swire was driving and couldn't free her hands, so she had to let the child fight back. It's normal for a child to not know her own strength." The previous person continued defending Flandre.

"Hey, you, why are you always speaking up for that child? She's a Blood Demon!" The person who kept raising objections asked with slight dissatisfaction.

"So what if she's a Blood Demon? Can't Blood Demons be good people? And that child is so cute, so well-behaved. As for you, you're always nitpicking and finding fault everywhere. This time, even though she made such a big contribution, you're still nitpicking. Tell me, are you dissatisfied with Governor Wei, or are you a spy from outside?"

The latter person immediately stared very unhappily at the earlier nitpicker and reached for the Police Baton nearby. If he said one more word, he would face the standard Police Baton attack tutorial—first hit the legs, then the mouth, three strikes in one second, all aimed at the body.

"Uh, I was just raising an objection... Lungmen is supposed to be an inclusive city, right... Ah, what are you doing... ah~~~ help, mmm..."

Before that person could finish speaking, the people around him pounced. On the other side, Flandre Scarlet peeked over, curious. Do these Operators also like to play games?

Driving to the outskirts of the villa area, they saw a truck parked ahead, with a red-haired Sankta girl talking to the guard.

"I'm telling you, sir, we really are here to deliver goods. Look, the address is written clearly on it. Why won't you let us through?" The girl's voice was full of energy. Even though she was complaining, it was hard to feel angry at her.

"No choice. Too many trucks have come in today, all delivering to the same address, and the person isn't even home. The goods outside that villa are piled up full. The higher-ups are worried something might happen, so they told us to stop all trucks heading there."

The guard also felt helpless. He didn't mind personally, since they usually don't stop logistics deliveries with proper documentation. But this time, there were just too many things being delivered, so they had no choice but to wait until the villa residents returned and moved some of the outside goods before allowing more in.

In the car, Chen Huijie stared intently at Beatrice. Only one household's goods all day, and so many that the outside was piled full. Combined with Flandre Scarlet's words, she didn't need to guess to know which household this logistics delivery was for.

After rolling down the window, Chen Huijie leaned out. "Sir, let them through. These are things we bought. We were delayed today and came back late. Sorry about that!"

After Chen Huijie spoke, the guard promptly let them through. After all, if the homeowner said so, even if the higher-ups questioned it, it wouldn't be his fault.

"Are you the recipient this time?" The red-haired Sankta girl in the truck leaned half her body out to look at the vehicle behind. And the truck slowly drove in.

Flandre Scarlet looked at the logo on the truck and the girl's appearance, and immediately recalled her name from memory. "Lemuel... Exusiai from Penguin Logistics, right... She seems like an interesting person. Maybe she can play with Flandre!" Flandre Scarlet said softly.

When they arrived at the destination, the truck ahead stopped far away, and then Chen Huijie's group saw the girl scratching her head in frustration. Then she saw the vehicle behind and her eyes lit up. She jumped out of the still-moving truck and ran over to Flandre Scarlet's vehicle.

"You're the recipients of this batch of goods, right?"

Beatrice nodded. "What's up?"

"Well, the front is completely piled up with stuff. Our truck can't get through. Is it okay if we just unload here?"

Chen Huijie looked. This spot was nearly fifty meters from the villa. Considering the roads in this villa area are dual lanes wide enough for two large vehicles, for it to be piled up, she couldn't believe how much stuff Beatrice had bought. Beatrice knew this was her fault. She turned her head to look outside, as if there was something particularly interesting to see.

"Char Siu Cat, later, Hoshiguma and I will help Flandre find clothes. You have only one job: move all this stuff inside. Got it!"
