Chapter 74 - Chapter 74: The Flying Alina

"Great, great! Super Hunter Flandre is about to go online!"

Flandre Scarlet was so excited that she jumped up and did several somersaults in the air. To her, what she did wasn't important; what mattered was that she was given something to do. It proved that Flandre was very capable and that they needed her.

"It just so happens that the Yeti Squad will be heading south into the forest to hunt tomorrow. Little Flandre, you should go with them!"

Talulah breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing Flandre Scarlet agree so readily. After the meeting ended, Alina approached her again. The reason this time was that she had encountered some problems she didn't understand while studying Magic. Coincidentally, Flandre was a professional Magic master (theoretical version). In her eyes, Alina's problems were not difficult at all.

"Flying is very simple. Hmm, let's go practice on the nearby mountain!"

Flandre Scarlet pulled Alina and ran to a mountain not far away. She pointed at the nearby cliff and said, "Jump down, and then don't keep thinking about flying. Instead, feel the wind that's lifting you up."

Alina looked at the cliff; it was about fifty or sixty meters high. "I'll die if I fall, won't I?"

...Flandre Scarlet was silent for a few seconds before saying, "Probably not!"

"Ah, it's so high. Little Flandre, will you catch me?" Alina swallowed hard as she looked at the height.

"I mean, you probably won't die... After all, by normal human standards, you probably don't belong to the category of being normally alive." Flandre Scarlet thought for a long time about how to put it. After all, she had never seen a Vampire fall to their death. After all, Vampires were already considered dead. Simple physical fall injuries wouldn't cause any real harm to themselves... Alina also realized that although she looked alive, she was actually in a state that could be called living but couldn't truly be termed 'alive.' At least, just as Flandre Scarlet said, falling to death was something that would never happen to her. Unless the ground below was covered with things that countered her.

"Haha, I completely forgot." Alina smiled and stood at the edge of the cliff, beginning to recall the key points of the Flight Spell.

"Then I'm going down first!" When she was almost ready, she looked at Flandre Scarlet beside her.

"Okay, if you really fall, I'll use a Restoration Spell to help you." Flandre Scarlet patted her chest and gave her a guarantee.

Having made up her mind, Alina suddenly leaped and jumped off the cliff.

"Ah~~~~"

Flandre Scarlet followed closely behind. "Don't be afraid of the sky, feel the power of the wind! Then fly!" Flandre Scarlet's voice rang in Alina's ear.

Alina suppressed the fear in her heart and cast the Flight Spell. The next second—

Thud!

A dull sound of impact rang out. Alina hit the ground hard... "Sigh, what a pity, a bit too slow!" Flandre Scarlet scratched her head while casting a Restoration Spell on Alina.

A few seconds later, her broken body was restored to its original state. After another dozen seconds, she suddenly sat up and took a deep breath.

"How does it feel?" Flandre Scarlet asked curiously.

"It's... it's too intense!" Alina expressed that the feeling made her scalp tingle.

"Uh... I didn't mean the feeling of jumping down, but the Flight Spell?" Flandre Scarlet said that if she wanted to experience free fall, she could do it anytime. The key was that this was Flandre Scarlet's teaching time, and she considered herself an 'excellent' master, so her student had to get it in one go.

"I've caught that feeling!" Alina also nodded and said excitedly. If she had been given just two more seconds, she definitely would have flown. It was just a bit too short. She looked up at the cliff. "I think I can fly up!"

A gust of wind blew from under her feet, and her whole body began to float upward unsteadily.

"Great job, Sister Alina! But don't be too nervous; imagine yourself as a bird!" Flandre Scarlet lightly tapped the ground with her foot and also flew up.

Alina had indeed been a bit nervous, but after seeing Flandre Scarlet beside her, her nervousness gradually faded. A minute later, the two of them slowly flew back to the top of the cliff. After her feet touched the cliff, Alina excitedly hugged Flandre Scarlet and spun her around twice.

"I can fly!"

"Sister Alina, let's fly down together and give Sister Talulah a surprise!" Flandre Scarlet held Alina's hand, and the two of them flew higher and higher. Soon, the people below looked like ants.

"So this is the sky!" Standing high in the air, Alina looked down and exclaimed in awe.

"That's right, this is above the sky!" Flandre Scarlet had already let go of her hand. Alina was still a bit fearful at first, but fear was soon replaced by curiosity and excitement.

"Very good, Sister Alina. You are no longer afraid of the sky; you can fly whenever you want from now on. Next, you just need to practice a lot. If you spend some time flying without your feet touching the ground, you'll be fine."

At this moment, Alina still looked very stiff to Flandre Scarlet. Rather than flying, it was more like swimming in the air. The way she moved up, down, left, and right was quite hilarious. But that could all be practiced. Once she got used to it, she would be able to fly just like her. Later, she would teach her how to play with Danmaku, and then they could happily have a thrilling Danmaku battle together. At the thought of the scene of the two of them with Danmaku flying everywhere in the sky, she couldn't help but let out a "hehehe" laugh.

"Flandre, Flandre!"

After Alina woke Flandre Scarlet from her fantasy, the two of them dove down toward the village.

"Sister Alina, don't forget to enjoy the flight!" At this moment, the two were enjoying a free fall. When falling, Flandre Scarlet intentionally slowed down a step, positioning herself just a little bit behind Alina. Many people had already looked up and seen them. Then, a burst of screams and exclamations rang out.

Hearing the noise, Talulah walked out and followed everyone's gaze to the sky. Then she saw Alina falling toward her from the sky at a very high speed. Flandre Scarlet followed closely behind, looking as if she were trying to catch her but couldn't reach.

"Alina, no!" Talulah's face turned pale with fright at the sight. She rushed toward the spot where Alina might fall, opening her arms in an attempt to catch her.

And then... Alina stopped right above her head... The scene suddenly became a bit awkward.

"Pfft! Hahahahaha, Sister Talulah didn't actually think Sister Alina was falling, did she!" Flandre Scarlet was rolling around in the air with laughter...

"Don't laugh!" Talulah was rarely this embarrassed and angry.

"Hahaha, hic~ But Sister Talulah, your expression just now was really funny."

While Flandre Scarlet was overcome with laughter, she was grabbed by Alina and brought before Talulah.

"Ah?" Looking at the brilliantly smiling Talulah in front of her, Flandre Scarlet expressed that she had performed meritorious service for the Reunion Movement...

"It's too late for anything you say today!" Talulah gently extended her hands toward Flandre Scarlet. Ten minutes later, Flandre Scarlet fled in a sorry state, clutching her bright red, pinched cheeks. Everyone watched with an 'auntie' smile on their faces.

In the evening, Flandre Scarlet stood on the roof, looking at the moon gloomily.

"What's wrong, Little Flandre? Are you still angry?" Alina flew to Flandre Scarlet's side.

"No, I'm thinking!" Flandre Scarlet said in a deep voice.

"Then what is Little Flandre thinking about?" Alina asked.

"I'm thinking about why my sister hasn't come into my dreams for a long time!" Flandre Scarlet replied seriously... Alina reached out and rubbed Flandre Scarlet's head.

"Do you miss your sister?"

"I've only been out for a year, so I don't miss her that much... I just wonder what my sister is doing right now?" Flandre Scarlet scratched her hair.

"How about we go for a flight and find something else to do?" Alina could tell that it wasn't that she didn't miss her, but that she missed her terribly. So she wanted to use another way to make Flandre Scarlet temporarily forget about it.

"Great!" The two then flew into the air and began to wander around.

Just then, Flandre Scarlet suddenly noticed figures on the nearby mountain. She pointed over there and said, "Alina, Alina, look over there! It looks like someone!"

Hearing Flandre Scarlet's words, Alina looked over in confusion and found it was a child, but he was holding a set of communicators in his hand and was whispering something. The two approached from the air without being noticed by the other party.

The child said, "Everyone here deserves to die. They captured my mom and dad. You guys come quickly and capture them all! What? Something happened to your people in the west and north? I don't know, my parents didn't say... Hmm, any situation these past two days? The day before my dad and the others were caught, they went to the square for a meeting. After they came back, they were very nervous. Then they told me about this thing and how to use it, and let me stay at my aunt's house next door. Then they said they were going to the next village to hide, but they were caught that same night. When are you going to send people!"

...Above his head, Alina and Flandre Scarlet more or less figured out the identity of this child. The child of the Milo couple, who were caught in the first round. They had actually forgotten that the other party had a child back then. Because they hadn't been sentenced yet, everyone didn't know why they were caught, so he hadn't been reported to the high-level officials by the neighbors.

As a result, they didn't expect that the other party had told many things but just happened not to mention the news about their child. This led to everyone missing him. He, however, had taken advantage of the night to sneak to his parents' backup communicator and send a message to the outside world.

Alina looked at the child, her eyes full of pain. Finally, she looked at him and made a throat-slitting motion. When Flandre Scarlet understood her meaning and was about to rush forward, she was stopped by Alina.

"Leave the child to me. You go and completely destroy that base station."

With that, she floated behind the child and reached out to hug him. "I'm sorry, it will be over soon!"

The next second, before the child could even scream, his vision went black. Flandre Scarlet, on the other hand, squeezed her small hand toward the communicator, and the device instantly turned into a pile of scrap. When she turned her head to look, only a 'Teru Teru Bozu' remained in Alina's arms—with only a head left that could still be recognized, and a body that had been almost completely drained.
