Bugs In My Home
Lucas POV
I remained hidden beneath his body but something weird happened. I felt so comfortable right there enjoying his scent.
Why does he have to smell so good?
"Cutie, you are such a good kisser." He said, kissing my forehead. I was already flustered by him and if I don't escape him now, I won't be able to leave.
I need to get my senses back this minute..
I shouldn't be thinking about him but about the person who came to his household. If someone recognizes me here then I will be doomed because I got a beta girl to marry. Also everyone knows I'm an alpha,so why am I with another alpha? At this point, my secret I have kept for years might just slip out.
"You moron, get off me." I shoved him off with force, getting on my feet in a hurry.
"Cutie!!" He winked at me taking a comfortable position as he bite his lips seductively,
"I want to kiss you again." He slowly got on his feet but I made sure I pushed him off again.
"You are crazy….you need hospital attention."
"That's why I am coming to you, no other doctor can heal me except you,"
"Burn in hell you jerk." I stormed out of his building and entered my car.
"It's everything okay?" Jett asked.
"Take me home Jett,I feel sick already." I lied to him.
"Why don't I take you to the hospital instead?" He suggested as expected but how do I tell him Alex is the one making me sick right now. Thank goodness Jett is a beta,he wouldn't notice my scent mix with Alex..
"I just want to go home and rest, no need for me to go to the hospital."
"I will take you home as requested." He let out a smile.
My mind zoomed off to the moment where we shared that hot kiss.
I touched my lips ... .his touch still lingers. It felt as if he was still here with me.
What am I going to do now?
I can't feel this way for him….I need to wake up from such fantasies and face reality.
I got to the house and Jett remained.
"Do you need me to get you anything?" He questioned.
"I'm good, why don't you go to the company and sort out other business for me and also inform the others to cancel all my appointments for today."
"But will you be fine?" His eyes were etching with so much worry.
"Come on, you need to stop worrying… And I am not alone as well, the maids and others are present so get to work Jett." I patted his shoulder and he let out a smile.
"Why are you smiling?"
"I'm sorry but I can't say it boss." Now he is being stubborn again.
"Jett, drop the formalities already and talk to me." I had to remind him about our friendship. I understand the fact he has to work for the company but that doesn't mean I don't see my friend at all.
"Boss I…"
"Jett?!?" I frowned at him.
"Sorry, Lucas.."
"Good so tell me why do you smile just now? And you better tell me the truth and no lies." I warned him.
"Because you look cute acting this way, I will go now." He didn't even let me respond to him, he left in a hurry.
"Jett!!! You!!!" He was already gone.
How am I acting? Cute???
I walked to my room and stared at my reflection in the mirror. That's just me still looking the same both past and present so what is he talking about?
I remained at home all day and boom, Jett returned panicking, "Did something happen at the company?"
"Your father came today and he was furious when he found out you were absent and cleared all schedules…"
Fear creeps in immediately… Oh shit!!!! I should have just gone to work instead but I cancelled because I needed to get myself out of what happened between me and Alex.
"Is there anything else I need to know just to brace myself in case he stopped by the house?" I acted tough not showing I was breaking inside.
I remembered his threat the last time.
"The deal with Li Dynasty Corporation, he is still asking why we haven't completed the deal yet."
Now I am in more trouble.
I ruined things already with Alex.
How do I call him to apologize for hitting him earlier? It's not my fault I got enraged by him. Why would he send such a naughty video to me in the first place?
He keeps getting on my nerves all the time.
I need to make peace quickly.
"Thank you Jett."
"Did the meeting with the CEO earlier today went well? Will he finally sign it with us??"
I let out a fake smile saying, "Yes it did."
"Then we have nothing to worry about."
Oh yes we have a lot to worry about because the meeting didn't go as planned. I messed things up.
I want to be alone now. I turned away, but Jett gently stopped me with a hand on my arm. "I'm sorry Lucas, if I said something wrong."
"Not at all, don't feel that way okay? I'm grateful to have you around but I just need to be alone right now."
He slowly let go of my arm and gave me a small smile. "I will respect that. I will be around just in case you need me to run some errands for you."
"Are we switching roles here now?" I teased him lightly, but he stayed quiet and didn't respond to the joke.
I looked at him again. Jett has been with me for so long, always steady, always there when I need him. He is a beta, so he has no idea about my secret and he never will. No alpha senses to pick up on the faint omega scent when the suppressants start to fade, no questions about why I sometimes lock myself away or why my room suddenly smells sweeter than it should. With him I can let my guard down just a little. I feel safe around him in a way I don't with anyone else. He makes hiding easier because he doesn't even know there's something to hide. But at the same time, I hate that his whole life seems to revolve around me and my problems.
"Just go home and get some rest," I told him, keeping my voice softer than usual. "Go on dates, find someone who makes you happy, fall in love or at least try. You deserve more than spending every day fixing my messes and standing guard outside my door, Jett. You're my friend, not just my employee. Don't let me keep you from having your own life."
He looked surprised for a moment, then that quiet smile came back, the one he only shows when he's really listening. "I don't mind being here, Lucas. It feels right to me."
"I know you don't mind," I said. "But I do mind. I want you to also mingle,get someone…. Someone to come home to at night, someone who isn't me and my endless drama but someone close.That's an order from your annoying boss who also happens to be your friend."
He let out a small, quiet laugh. "Okay. I'll try harder. I promise."
"Good. Now get out of here before I change my mind and make you stay all night to keep me company."
He nodded, gave me one last look full of that steady loyalty, and left. The door closed softly behind him.
I walked into my room and dropped to my knees on the floor.
The tears came without warning, rolling down my face uncontrollably as my shoulders shook.
When will my father ever see me for who I really am?
When?
All I have ever wanted is his love and his attention, but no matter how hard I try, no matter how perfectly I play the alpha son he wants, he never sees me. Not really.
How do I even make peace with Alex after everything that happened? I still need him to sign that deal so badly. Maybe if I pull this off, my father will finally look at me and say I'm his son, that I'm enough.
My phone started ringing. The name on the screen was Alex.
What does he want now?
I wiped the tears from my face with the back of my hand and answered the call. "If you are calling to tease me as usual, please, not now."
"Please stop crying, it is breaking me here."
"HUH?" I jumped up and started looking around the room wildly. "You asshole! Where the hell are you? Did you sneak into my bedroom?"
"No, but I'm watching you." His voice came through soft and strange.
I spotted it then….a tiny red light blinking from behind the photo frame on the shelf. I moved closer to check. A small hidden camera. That bastard.
How long has he been watching me?
