Chapter 22 - Chapter 22: The Champion-Talent Egg

Chen Ran hadn't even finished savoring the joy of Charmander's evolution when the system delivered another piece of explosive news.

A Champion-Talent Pokémon Egg.

About to hatch.

> Ding!

Congratulations, Host. The random Pokémon Egg with Champion-level talent is about to hatch!

"…!"

Champion talent.

In the real world, this was considered only the third tier of talent.

But among human Trainers, it stood at the very top.

As for Legendary-level and God-level talents?

Those belonged exclusively to mythical Pokémon.

Among human Trainers, Pokémon of that level were almost nonexistent. Even if they did appear, you could count them on one hand.

They were the absolute trump cards of national championship teams.

For example—

Leon's Charizard.

Cynthia's Garchomp.

A Pokémon with Champion-level talent could serve as the core of a championship team, possessing terrifying combat power and an astonishing growth ceiling.

"System… what happens to Pokémon eggs?"

Chen Ran asked, suddenly cautious.

If a Pokémon just appeared out of thin air in front of him, it would definitely be caught on camera.

> Ding!

Please rest assured, Host. The Pokémon Egg will be implanted into a nearby random wild Pokémon Egg and hatch naturally.

"…Perfect."

The system really had thought of everything.

Chen Ran's worries vanished instantly.

"Then… hatch it."

No matter what Pokémon it was, with Champion-level talent, it couldn't possibly be bad.

And more importantly—

Chen Ran trusted the system.

If anything, it would only help him in a situation like this.

"Quasi-Legendary? Starter Pokémon? Or maybe something like Zorua or Absol…?"

His anticipation skyrocketed.

> Ding!

Host, please take note. Three hundred meters ahead is a tree hollow. The system will implant the Champion-Talent Pokémon Egg there. It will hatch within one minute.

Chen Ran froze.

Then his eyes widened.

"…One minute?!"

Thankfully, it was only three hundred meters away.

Without hesitation, Chen Ran broke into a sprint.

If someone else got there first, he'd lose out massively.

"Charmeleon! Stay close!"

After a month of freshman training, Chen Ran's physical fitness had improved dramatically. Even with rough terrain, he reached the marked location before the egg could hatch.

Towering redwood trees surrounded him.

At that moment—

Jirachi tugged gently on Chen Ran's ear.

"Chen Ran, I feel a strong surge of life energy."

It pointed toward a tree hollow hidden among dense leaves.

"A Pokémon is being born."

Following Jirachi's direction, Chen Ran spotted the hollow.

It wasn't very large.

Definitely not a nest for large bird Pokémon.

"Probably Hoothoot or Natu."

The hollow was more than ten meters above the ground, high enough to deter ground-based predators like Ekans, which loved stealing Pokémon eggs.

"…How am I supposed to get up there?"

Chen Ran stared at the height, speechless.

For the first time, the system felt slightly unreasonable.

The egg was already hatching—he couldn't afford to wait.

Seeing his hesitation, Jirachi giggled.

"Hehehe~ Let me check it out for you!"

Flying was effortless for Jirachi.

That height was nothing.

After a brief moment of thought, Chen Ran nodded.

"Be careful."

The hollow entrance was small. It didn't look dangerous, and Jirachi wasn't the type to get into fights.

> Jirachi: "Mm-hm!" (^o^)/

With a lollipop in its mouth, Jirachi turned invisible and floated upward, humming cheerfully.

"Charmeleon, go up as well. Bring the Pokémon down."

If Jirachi carried the Pokémon out while invisible, it might look suspicious on camera. Letting Charmeleon handle it was safer.

"Roar!"

Charmeleon immediately dug its claws into the redwood trunk and climbed upward with steady strength.

Moments later—

"Chen Ran! It's a puppy!"

Jirachi's voice echoed in Chen Ran's mind.

"A… puppy?"

Chen Ran was stunned.

A puppy-like Pokémon?

His mind raced.

Growlithe.

Houndour.

Riolu.

Snubbull.

Absol… no, that was more wolf-like.

"…Don't tell me it's Riolu?!"

His heart started pounding.

Lucario was beloved by Champions and Elite Trainers alike—handsome, loyal, brave, and monstrously strong.

"Charmeleon!"

Chen Ran shouted urgently.

"Bring it down—now!"

Excitement and tension tangled in his chest.

If it was Riolu, paired with Champion talent—

His team would truly begin to take shape.

A Growlithe would be acceptable.

But if it was Snubbull or Houndour…

He didn't even want to think about it.

When a hint of blue fur appeared—

Chen Ran's heart finally settled.

"…It's stable."
