Tears slid from my forehead into my eyes as I held onto the rock with all my strength. My hands were wet, and I knew it would not take long before I lost my grip.
Fear wrapped around my chest as I waited for Zane. He was hurt, but he promised to think of something. Going to get help would take more than an hour because of the distance, and with his injury, it would feel like forever.
"Let me use my magic," he said, his voice shaking. It was full of fear, and I wondered if I should even allow him to try.
The heat from the fluxes began to burn my legs and back. The pain in my neck grew worse with every second. I did not need anyone to tell me what was happening. If I did not get out of here soon, scales would start covering my skin in the next twenty minutes, and my secret would be exposed.
My heart jumped when I realized what that meant. It meant death. I did not want to die. Not now. Not like this.
