Gérard had taken Cécile's number from Charlotte.
She hadn't known what he intended to discuss with her, but within half an hour, a portal opened and Cécile stepped into their mansion.
"I'm so happy!" Cécile exclaimed, her face glowing with joy as she pulled Charlotte into a warm embrace.
Charlotte smiled, her heart swelling at her reaction.
She had wanted to share the news with her family… but Gérard had stopped her.
Not yet.
They would tell them.
Just not yet.
"I need you to mask the baby's scent," Gérard said.
Cécile didn't question him. She simply nodded.
But Charlotte looked at him, confused.
"It's not safe for anyone to know right now," he explained.
Understanding dawned on her, and she nodded slowly.
"Is there any news about Inés?" Charlotte asked.
The light in Cécile's expression dimmed instantly.
