"Where did you vanish to last night?" Jacqueline asked, narrowing her eyes slightly.
Damien didn't answer. Instead, he focused on the baby in his arms, cooing softly at their little girl as if he hadn't heard a word.
"Damien," Jacqueline warned.
"I went to get you a surprise," he said finally, glancing up at her with a faint smile. "She's downstairs. Come on."
He rose to his feet, taking her hand and leading her toward the door.
"She?" Jacqueline echoed, one brow arching in curiosity.
Damien chuckled, leaning in to press a quick kiss to her lips. "Go see for yourself," he murmured. "Oh and he's there too. He wanted to meet our baby."
Jacqueline gave him a suspicious look. "Are we speaking in riddles now?"
"No, baby," he replied lightly as they stepped into the lounge.
The moment her gaze landed on the familiar figure, Jacqueline's eyes widened.
"Charlotte!"
She squealed, rushing forward and wrapping her in a tight embrace. Charlotte hugged her back just as warmly.
