Chapter 8 - Custom-made Wand

Chapter 8: Custom-made Wand

The Burrow

Ronald Bilius Weasley

July 4, 1989, Tuesday

[Congratulations, Master Ronald. You have completed an Achievement: First Spell Casting.]

[You can claim your reward by going to the Achievements feature and clicking on the achievement card once you've completed it.]

Without hesitation, Ron activated the System's Achievements feature and clicked on the now gold colored First Spell Casting achievement card in the completed achievements section.

[Your reward is a wand that fits you perfectly. Do you want to claim your reward now, Master Ronald?]

Alfred asked.

"Yes," he said, and Ron and Alfred's voices reached him again.

[Your reward has been added to your inventory, Master Ronald. You can summon it from your inventory at any time.]

The next moment, at Ron's summoning, his new, first, and true wand appeared in his hand.

And as soon as the wand appeared in his hand, Ron could feel the connection it was forming, and at that moment, golden sparks began to fly from the tip of his new wand.

After the sparks stopped and everything returned to normal, Ron now had the opportunity to examine the wand in detail.

The wand was quite different from any wand he had seen before. Unlike wands made from a single piece of wood, this one was made of metal and wood. And at the base of the handle was a red ruby.

Ron immediately tried to cast the Lumos spell he had just learned with his new wand, but nothing happened. It was as if he were holding a piece of wood instead of a wand.

He tried again, but the result was the same.

"Alfred. Could you accidentally send a defective wand?" he asked.

[Negative, Master Ronald. The wand you have is not a training wand; it's a wand designed for wizards and witches who have achieved their second awakening. Therefore, it's normal that you cannot use it at the moment. You can see this by checking the wand's information.]

"So, I won an award, but I can't use it? Looks like I got excited for nothing."

Ron, however, did as Alfred suggested and wished to examine the information on his wand; a new panel appeared before him, displaying the details.

[Unnamed Wand]

[A high-level wand consisting of three shaft materials, five cores, and one enhancement crystal. Custom-made exclusively for Ronald Bilius Weasley and cannot be used by anyone else.]

[The inner shaft is made of dragon bone, and the outer shaft is made of red cedar wood and magical mithril metal.]

[Contains Unicorn hair, Thestral tail hair, Wampus Cat hair, Thunderbird feather, and Horned Serpent horn cores. The wand selects the most suitable core according to the spell being cast.]

[With the Dragon Eye enhancement crystal, it can increase the power of its user's spells.]

[This wand has a growth feature, and as the user develops, the wand will also develop. It is potentially more powerful than the Elder Wand.]

[Length: 15 inches]

[Current Enhancement Factor: x2]

[Minimum Usage Requirement: 100 Magic Power Scale]

This was far more than Ron had expected from a wand, and he stared at the panel in front of him for a while.

A wand with the potential to be more powerful than the Elder Wand. This wasn't something to joke about.

If the information on this panel were revealed, Ron could be killed because of this wand. He didn't think the fact that only he could use it would change anything.

Apparently, it would be best if he didn't mention it to anyone and avoided using it in public as much as possible until he had the power to protect it.

[Master Ronald, this wand is currently unnamed. Since it's a high-level wand, it would be appropriate to name it. This will likely strengthen the bond between you and the wand.]

"A name for the wand, huh…"

"A wand that selects the most suitable core for the spell being cast and strives for the best performance... Pathlighter would be a fitting name. To guide me in the best way possible on the path I will walk."

After the name left Ron's mouth, a new window appeared before him.

[The name Pathlighter was accepted by the wand.]

[The bond between the wand and the user is strengthening...]

Then Ron saw a golden light shining on his wand and himself.

[The bond level reached soul bound.]

[Disarming and summoning spells cast by others will no longer work on the Pathlighter.]

[The Pathlighter will appear in the user's hand at the user's request, even when the user is far away from it.]

Well... this wand was getting crazier and crazier.

Unfortunately, he couldn't currently use it with his 63 Magic Power Scale. And this might require Ron to revise his plans.

Initially, he was planning to craft his first crafting item at the beginning of next week, but for that, he would need a fully functional wand.

He couldn't cast the necessary spells with his Training Wand.

Frankly, Ron had thought he could automatically use the wand he received as an achievement from the system, but apparently that wasn't the case.

Now Ron had to postpone crafting his first item until he could use his wand.

Normally, this would mean waiting until he was about 11 years old, but Ron was lucky enough to have a Workshop area and a training wand.

The most standard way to increase Magic Power Scale was to cast lots of spells, just like developing muscles. Wandless spells were especially effective.

Ron didn't think it would take long if he dedicated himself to improving his magic power scale in this place where time seemed to flow 100 times slower.

But this meant he had to spend more time practicing, contrary to his plans. However, there was nothing he could do about it.

After returning his Pathlighter wand to his inventory and picking up his training wand, Ron began preparing to cast new spells.

He would move on to other spells after perfecting the Lumos spell and memorizing the magical path it took in his body.

He planned to dedicate all the time he had left tonight to practicing spells. After all, mastering these spells wouldn't hurt him.

He didn't know if just a 63 magic power scale would be enough to cast higher-level spells. And the fact that his training wand only revealed 10% of his magical power didn't make things any easier.

But right now, all he could do was do his best. He would learn as many spells as possible and then strive to cast them silently and without his wand.

If he spent 8 hours a day here for the next week, that would be 5600 hours of training. That's equivalent to 233 days.

And if he added the contribution this place made to his effectiveness, which he rated five times greater, it would be equivalent to more than three years of practical experience.

Three years of training in one week. Perhaps he wouldn't even need to change his plans after all.

Then, during the approximately one month he spent in the Workshop until around eight in the morning, Ron dedicated himself to learning and practicing magic.

When his mother called him for breakfast, Ron had learned all 33 spells, charms, jinxes, and curses taught in the first and second years of Hogwarts as a result of his practice inside.

In fact, he could have moved on to third-year spells, or even fourth-year spells, if he wanted to.

But after completing the second-year spells, instead of moving on to the spells of the following year, he focused on learning the silent and wandless versions of the spells he had learned.

And thanks to the training wand and the effect of the Workshop, learning both silent and wandless versions of these spells hadn't been very difficult. However, a significant reason was that these spells were relatively simple.

He didn't think he could learn spells from later years, both silently and wandlessly, in such a short time, especially those from the fifth year and beyond.

But this didn't change the success he had achieved.

Wand-Lighting Charm, Softening Charm, Severing Charm, Fire-Making Charm, Unlocking Charm, Locking Charm, Mending Charm, Knockback Jinx, Levitation Charm, Curse of the Bogies, Green Sparks Spell, Red Sparks Spell, Smokescreen Spell, Wand-Extinguishing Charm, Untransfiguration Spell, Box Blasting Charm, Ice Jinx, Switching Spell, Avifors Spell, Flintifors Spell, Skurge Charm, Dancing Feet Spell, Disarming Charm, Engorgement Charm, Freezing Charm, Memory Charm, Tickling Charm, General Counter-Spell, Shrinking Charm, Slowing Charm, Homorphus Charm, Full Body-Bind Curse, Vera Verto Spell.

Ron could now cast all these spells silently and without a wand.

He thought this was most likely due to his legend-level crafting talent, which had a master-level talent for crafting sub-fields.

Master-level talent meant having the same talent Severus Sanape had for potion making.

And elemental spells, charms, jinxes, and even curses were among the essential elements required for crafting. Therefore, his rapid mastery of these areas, especially in simple spells, wasn't surprising.

But on the other hand, being able to cast so many spells without a wand gave him a certain level of confidence. He had no intention of using his training wand in front of others, and he couldn't use Pathlighter at the moment.

This meant that, as a wizard without a wand, he couldn't defend himself in many situations.

But now, thanks to the wandless spells he could cast, he could at least defend himself, even if his spells weren't that powerful because of his low magic power scale.

And speaking of that...

Through approximately a month of practice, his magic power scale had increased by 11 units, reaching 74. This meant he gained approximately 1 unit of magic power scale after just 3 days of practice.

It seemed reaching 100 units in the magic power scale wouldn't take long.

Ron left the Workshop, woke up, quickly made his bed, and went downstairs to the kitchen for breakfast.

He wanted to get to his room as early as possible today and sleep as much as he could. In other words, spend as much time as possible in the Workshop and Library.

He knew he shouldn't isolate himself from real life, but he was at a crucial developmental stage, and he thought it wouldn't be a problem to focus as much as possible until he reached the power to use the Pathlighter and then craft his first item.

Once everything was in order, he could limit his time in the Workshop and Library to sleeping at night and dedicate his days to his family, friends, or other things.

But first, he needed to lay a solid foundation.

After all, the Weasley Business Empire wouldn't just build on its own.
