The abandoned trail wasn't hard to miss.
That was the problem.
From the main road it looked like nothing. A gap between two large rocks, barely wide enough for one person to walk through sideways, with a mess of dead brush piled up at the entrance like the mountain itself had tried to block it off. If she hadn't known exactly where to look she would have walked right past it without a second thought.
She stopped at the gap and checked the descriptions she had copied from the book one more time.
A path that looks like it ends but doesn't.
