As one of the three great commanders of the Demi-Human alliance, Sphinx's identity, status, and terrifying strength were universally recognized by the rebellion.
Under these circumstances, although the Demi-Human soldiers were deeply puzzled by Sphinx walking alongside a group of humans, no one dared to stop her or even openly doubt her actions.
Thus, Regulus and the others proceeded completely unimpeded, effortlessly reaching the main rear encampment of the Demi-Human army.
Looking at the massive, sprawling military encampment before them, things became much simpler now that they had arrived.
There were typically four ways to end a large-scale war.
The first was to directly slaughter everyone, leaving no one alive. This was easily achievable for Regulus, but if possible, he did not want to rely solely on this tedious method.
The second was to kill the opposing generals. Cutting off the head of the snake was a highly effective method that had been passed down since ancient times.
The third was to cut off their supplies. In such a massive, protracted war, once the food supplies were turned to ash, there was basically no possibility for an army to continue fighting.
The fourth, and most difficult, was to solve the problem at its very source. However, the source of this specific war lay with a Witch. The actions of the Witch of Envy—a silver-haired half-elf—over four hundred years ago had planted the seeds of hatred that led to the modern conflict between humans and demi-humans. He could not solve that himself, at least not at the source at this current stage.
Therefore, excluding the first and fourth methods, Regulus decided to implement the second and third methods simultaneously.
Excluding Sphinx, who was now his obedient pawn, there were only two commanders left to deal with: Libre Fermi, and Valga Cromwell.
Speaking of Cromwell, this giant general of the demi-human race was none other than 'Grandpa Rom'—the man who would eventually raise Felt in the original storyline. Although Regulus had a decent impression of Grandpa Rom from his meta-knowledge, in the current situation, Regulus would not show mercy just because of some lingering narrative impressions.
'If he dies here,' Regulus reasoned internally, 'Felt can just be raised by me later.'
"Where are the specific locations of the other two demi-human leaders?" Regulus asked, glancing down at Sphinx.
"Libre is likely in the very center of the forward encampment," Sphinx replied flatly. "As for Cromwell, he is not currently stationed with this army."
'Cromwell isn't here?' Regulus couldn't help but frown.
This presented a bit of a problem. If all three main figures could not be dealt with today, the remaining Demi-Human soldiers might become even more frenzied in the short term. But since they had already come all this way, they couldn't just go back without doing anything, could they?
"Sphinx, go burn all of this army's food supplies," Regulus ordered.
"I understand."
While responding mechanically, Sphinx floated off the ground and entered the dense demi-human encampment alone.
Regulus turned to look at the girls standing beside him.
"You don't need to follow me any further. Find a safe place in the wetlands to hide. I'll be back soon."
"Okay."
"Please be careful, Husband," Lycoris urged.
The girls did not refuse Regulus's instructions. Their combat power was considerable, but entering the absolute center of a hostile army encampment would not only fail to help Regulus but could potentially drag him down if a massive trap was sprung. If they truly wanted to help, hiding and ensuring their own absolute safety was what they needed to prioritize.
Watching the girls retreat into the misty reeds, Regulus was not worried that anything unexpected would happen to them. Their strength was already very high, and once he killed Libre Fermi, no one in this camp would have the leisure to pay attention to a few hiding humans.
As the girls' figures disappeared from sight, Regulus confidently stepped towards the main gates of the encampment.
As he approached, the Demi-Human soldiers on guard immediately frowned, gripping their spears. They had just seen this human man arrive with Sphinx, but even so, his casual, arrogant approach did not dispel their hostile doubts.
Just before they could raise their weapons to stop him, Regulus casually waved his hand and brushed against a heavy wooden palisade stake planted by the roadside.
BOOM!
Imbued with his Authority of Stillness, the massive wooden stake instantly ripped out of the earth and flew forward like a cannonball. It struck one of the guards, instantly obliterating him, and then continued to speed directly into the dense encampment behind them, tearing through tents and soldiers with no signs of stopping.
In Regulus's opinion, Sphinx had only given a rough answer regarding the commander's location. In that case, rather than deliberately searching tent by tent, it would be much more efficient to cause a massive scene and let Libre come directly to him.
As a commanding general, she certainly wouldn't just sit there and wait to die, right?
The surviving guards, who had been stunned for a horrifying second, snapped out of it.
"Enemy attack! Enemy attack!" they immediately shouted loudly, adopting defensive stances and blowing their war horns.
Regulus ignored them and simply continued to advance into the camp.
At the same time, the demi-human archers in the watchtowers who noticed the commotion immediately began to rain arrows down upon him.
Ignoring the deadly shower of steel, which simply shattered harmlessly against his invisible barrier, Regulus didn't even break his stride.
A massive swarm of Demi-Human soldiers rushed out from within the camp to meet him. Kobolds, cat-people, tiger-people, lion-people, and even heavily armored lizardmen were all present. The horde was incredibly diverse and terrifyingly numerous.
Even though he had seen them before, it still gave Regulus a bizarre sense of déjà vu, as if he had just strolled into a violently aggressive animal kingdom.
He cleared his mind and, with a casual wave of his hand, unleashed his Authority.
The invisible wave of stopped time effortlessly sliced through the vanguard, instantly bisecting all the Demi-Human soldiers who had rushed forward to attack him.
After several consecutive waves of absolute slaughter, no more Demi-Human soldiers dared to actively charge forward, turning instead to frantic, ineffective ranged attacks. Whether human or demi-human, as long as it was a conscious creature, it possessed a primal instinct for survival. And their instincts were currently screaming that the man in white was Death itself.
Regulus took a step forward, and the massive army of hardened warriors collectively retreated a step in sheer terror.
After walking for a while and painting the mud red, Regulus voluntarily stopped.
"Send out your commander," Regulus announced, his voice carrying effortlessly over the panicked camp. "If they don't come out right now, I will personally slaughter every single Demi-Human soldier in this encampment."
He threatened them directly and plainly.
This arrogant threat seemed to severely provoke a contingent of elite lion-men, pushing them to launch another impulsive, roaring charge.
Unfortunately, their heavy weapons were completely ineffective against his *Stillness*. With a flick of his wrist, the resulting scene of blood, severed limbs, and splattered internal organs once again instantly cooled the boiling blood of the remaining soldiers.
But to be honest, even after participating in several wars and personally bathing in the blood of battlefields, the gruesome effects of his own absolute attacks still made Regulus feel a slight sense of physical discomfort. Indeed, it seemed he could never truly get used to the smell of such total carnage.
"Oh dear~ Oh dear~" a smooth, hissing voice echoed through the tense air. "If you wanted to find me so badly, you should have just said so earlier. Your rude way of visiting is quite frightening, you know."
As the voice slithered over the crowd, the layers of encircling soldiers parted respectfully, opening a clear path.
A slender Snake-Person, covered in iridescent scales from head to toe, appeared before Regulus.
Looking at the serpent commander before him, Regulus couldn't help but recall the extreme frustration he had felt earlier regarding the different races in this fantasy world.
The reason for his frustration was actually very simple.
Many demi-humans in this world possessed appearances that were simply too different from humans. For example, this Libre Fermi standing before him was female, but she could at most be classified as a literal monster, not a cute 'Monster Girl'.
'Her level of humanization is simply too low,' Regulus complained internally, eyeing her scaled face and serpentine features. 'It's so low that it completely fails to arouse even the slightest bit of sexual interest.'
And the glaring problem was that full-blown beasts and monsters like her accounted for a significant proportion of the Demi-Human alliance. For Regulus, whose greed was full of intense interest in collecting beautiful non-human girls, this was simply a terrible, tragic reality that absolutely could not get any worse.
