Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Giant Bird Returned

Cyrus was doing something that others should not imitate.

Flames from his body completely ignited the bird's nest beneath his feet.

Dry wood, dry grass, and feathers were the best fuel for fire.

In just a moment, the flames spread throughout the entire nest.

The ignited nest, at the top of the giant tree, looked like a massive torch.

Being in the midst of the fire, Cyrus didn't feel hot at all; instead, he felt incredibly comfortable.

It was like soaking in a hot spring, warm and cozy all over.

Having just acquired this extraordinary power, Cyrus was actually quite eager to study the power of the Flame-Flame Fruit.

However, now was definitely not a good time.

It was better to get to the ground first before pondering these things.

But Cyrus could also imagine that if he relied solely on the power of the Flame-Flame Fruit, he might end up becoming another Ace.

Although Ace became a renowned powerhouse on the seas by relying on his fruit's power, his over-reliance on the Flame-Flame Fruit led him to neglect the development of his Haki, making him seem weak.

Of course, it might also be that he was a victim of the meta.

Fruit ability, Haki, Swordsmanship, and physique—if he had the chance, he had to improve them all.

Standing in the burning flames, Cyrus thought to himself.

Especially Haki.

You don't have to be top-tier, but you can't not know it.

He just didn't know if he, a transmigrator, could learn such a technique.

After all, he wasn't a native of this world.

If he couldn't learn it, he might have to find a place in one of the Four Blues and lie low.

For a moment, Cyrus's thoughts were in a jumble.

Until a cracking sound rang out, and Cyrus smelled an extremely tempting aroma.

The scent was incredibly distinct amidst the smell of burning materials.

Subconsciously, Cyrus took a step forward. The raging flames converged, gathering towards him.

And Cyrus's eyes fell on the three bird eggs in the middle of the nest.

The blue eggshells were charred black. One of them had cracked open from the heat, revealing the golden-brown cooked egg white inside.

The tempting aroma wafted to his nose, making Cyrus swallow involuntarily as he walked over.

Cyrus had been in this world for some time and had eaten nothing but a Devil Fruit.

And although he ate the whole fruit, it had dissolved as soon as it hit his stomach.

Simply put, it wasn't filling.

So, walking up to the charred, cracked giant egg, Cyrus reached out, broke off the carbonized shell, and scooped out a piece of egg white that was golden-brown on the outside and soft and tender on the inside.

With just one bite, Cyrus felt that nothing he had ever eaten before could compare to this mouthful.

Not to mention he had just eaten a Devil Fruit.

An indescribable sense of bliss rose from his heart.

Being able to eat something delicious when you're starving—this feeling was truly blissful.

However, before he could take more than a few bites, Cyrus heard a shrill bird cry from the distance.

His body jolted, and he whipped his head around to look in the direction of the sound.

A large, brilliantly feathered bird was flying towards him with its wings spread.

And that shrill cry echoed intermittently.

Crap!

He burned down its house and ate its child. What would be the consequence?

Almost subconsciously, Cyrus wanted to find a place to hide.

But the giant bird was too fast.

In just a few seconds, like a supersonic fighter jet, it arrived above the nest with a terrifying roar of wind.

Cyrus also saw the approaching giant bird.

Its feathers were incomparably magnificent.

As it spread its wings above the nest, it felt to Cyrus as if it were blotting out the sky.

The giant bird's head looked like a dinosaur's head with a beak added.

Boom!

The giant bird landed directly on the nest, seemingly unconcerned about the burning remains.

Its huge eyes were filled with rage, staring deadly at Cyrus, who was still holding a piece of egg white.

'It's over!' This was Cyrus's first thought upon seeing the giant bird.

'What the hell is this thing!' This was his second thought.

The bird's appearance was truly challenging his perception of reality, but then he remembered this was the world of One Piece.

'Oh, then it's fine.'

Even while being stared at by the giant bird's hateful eyes, Cyrus couldn't help but let his mind wander.

'Humans really are the type to not shed a tear until they see the coffin.'

ROAR!

The giant bird suddenly opened its beak and roared at Cyrus.

In an instant, a gale carrying a fishy stench rushed towards him.

Before Cyrus could react to the foul smell, the nest, which still had open flames, burst into a conflagration in the wind.

The giant bird, which had landed in the nest, was also startled by the sudden flare-up of flames.

But then, it became visibly angrier. Its long neck and head, like a giant flail, slammed heavily onto the nest.

"Hey, what the fuck."

Cyrus didn't expect the bird to be so reckless.

Don't you want your three children?

Although they were already cooked.

Cyrus and the entire nest were sent flying.

The nest disintegrated in mid-air, and a large amount of glittering gold was flung out along with it, scattering in all directions.

BOOM!

Flames erupted around Cyrus's body, igniting the falling branches and other debris around him.

In that instant, a giant fireball over ten meters in diameter appeared in the sky.

And the giant bird, having smashed its own nest, spread its wings and charged towards the fireball in the sky with a powerful gust of wind.

The fireball was directly shattered by the bird's impact, exploding into a sky full of fireworks.

Behind the burning giant bird, Cyrus's body reformed.

His face was pale, and he felt a bit weak.

As expected, Elemental Transformation couldn't be absolutely relied upon.

When he used the burning debris to form a fireball and it was shattered by the bird, he almost passed out.

How to kill this bird?

Now it was a fight to the death between them; only one could survive.

But killing such a giant beast would be no easy task.

Just as this thought arose in Cyrus's mind, he saw a giant mouth full of countless teeth snapping towards him.

'Oh, right.'

'Birds can twist their necks to face their backs.' This was the only thought Cyrus had after being swallowed.

BOOM!

Just after swallowing Cyrus, flames spewed from the bird's beak as if from a flamethrower.

The giant bird, still in the air, let out a mournful cry and crashed to the ground, thrashing and struggling violently.

The flames on its body, as it rolled, set everything around it on fire.

...

"Look, lads! There must be treasure over there."

Not far from the burning island, a pirate ship was rushing towards it.

The one speaking was a pirate with a cutlass, standing at the bow and shouting with excitement.

"Yeah!"

The pirates on the ship immediately responded.

Just moments ago, they had seen a giant torch light up on this island from afar, followed by a sky full of flames, and under the sunlight, they saw countless specks of golden light falling.

'It had to be treasure!'

Isn't this why they went out to sea as pirates?

And so, the fearless pirates charged over.

As for the furious giant bird that had flown back earlier, no one had seen it at all.

Then, the pirate ship approached the island, and the pirates on board were immediately captivated by the countless golden glints scattered on the beach.

Treasure!
