The truck's headlights swept across the parking garage entrance just as another vehicle pulled in from the opposite direction — an older sedan, mud-streaked, wipers struggling against the same relentless downpour.
Erik slowed instinctively, hand shifting toward his weapon out of habit before recognition caught up to caution.
"That's—" Kai leaned forward between the seats, squinting through the rain. "Is that Edward's car?"
The sedan pulled in alongside them, and through the fogged windows Penelope could make out four shapes inside — Edward behind the wheel, Ethan beside him, William and Jason crowded into the back with what looked like several duffel bags stacked between them.
Both vehicles came to a stop near the reinforced entrance, and everyone piled out at roughly the same moment, soaked through within seconds despite the short distance from car to door.
