The Presidential Office was quiet before sunrise. Sebastian liked it that way.
For the first time since becoming President, he found himself completely alone. No advisors. No reporters. No security briefings waiting outside the door. Just silence.
He sat behind the large wooden desk and stared out the window. The capital was waking slowly beneath a pale morning sky.
From this height, the city looked peaceful.
Almost innocent. It was a lie, of course.
Every city looked peaceful from a distance.
The closer you got, the more complicated things became.
A soft knock interrupted his thoughts.
Before he could answer, the door opened and Chairman Elias entered .
"You're here early." Sebastian smiled.
"I was about to say the same thing."
"I haven't trusted politicians who sleep late in thirty years." "That's oddly specific."
"It comes from experience."
Sebastian laughed.
