Sasuke becomes a walking generator — and the system decides it's time to awaken a "Martial Soul."
Morning arrived with the crowing of roosters, dragging Kaito violently out of his dreams.
"Stop sleeping… hurry up and get up…"
He rubbed his eyes groggily and reached over to shove Sasuke awake.
His hand touched nothing.
More importantly, maybe because he hadn't slept well, Kaito faintly caught the smell of something burned in the air.
"Whee'd that brat run off to…?"
A voice answered from the corner of the room.
"Morning, Kaito."
Sasuke exhaled a puff of black smoke, flashing a row of white teeth as crackling sparks danced across his body.
The poor kid had barely fixed his hair last night.
Now it had returned to full-on explosion mode.
Kaito turned his head.
And froze.
For a brief moment, he honestly thought he was still dreaming.
He rubbed his eyes several times before finally accepting the horrifying reality in front of him.
"Uchiha Sasuke!"
"Have you completely lost your mind?!"
"You spent the entire night licking the power socket?!"
Yesterday's stunt alone had already made him regret existence.
Seeing this electrically possessed idiot first thing in the morning puhed Kaito dangerously close to grabbing him and pinning him in the corner for a proper beating.
"No. I did not."
Sasuke casually Kaitoked the plug out of the socket with one hand and stood up from the floor.
This time, even more electric arcs snapped across his body — popping and crackling like a mosquito zapper.
He smootherrrrrrd his hair back, and somehow the wild spikes actually settled down.
"Kaito… the current me…"
Before Sasuke could finish, Kaito pulled open the curtains and glanced outside.
Clear skies.
Bright sunlight.
Nothing abnormal.
Honestly, Sasuke shooting sparks didn't even surprise him that much anymore.
This was a chakra world.
Weird things happened daily.
A lightning-discharge Sasuke wasn't even top-tier nonsense.
He'd once seen a yellow mouse that could fire off a hundred thousand volts.
"Look at me first!"
The arcs faded quickly.
Sasuke desperately wanted to prove he'd changed, but Kaito stubbornly refused to turn around.
The kid started getting anxious.
The door opened.
Itachi appeared with a gentle smile, wearing a pink apron and holding a spatula.
Breakfast was clearly his handiwork today.
"Look at me!! My Lightning Release!!"
Seeing a new audience, Sasuke immediately ruhed toward Itachi, flailing his arms dramatically.
Unfortunately, the electric arcs had already vanihed, leaving him with absolutely zero evidence.
Itachi stiffened slightly at the sight of Sasuke's soot-covered body and faint burnt smell.
Unpleasant memories surfaced.
Last night, after emergency repairs restored power to the village, the lights had flickered nonstop like a haunted house.
He and Shisui had barely returned home before being dragged back to the Hokage's office again, forced to sit through the Third Hokage's endless sighs in a fog of secondhand smoke.
"It… it was there just now…"
Sasuke stared at his empty hands, disappointment written all over his face.
Kaito finihed changing and shot Itachi a suspicious look.
"Oi, Itachi."
"Both! Both!"
Itachi reflexively blurted the answer before Kaito even finihed speaking.
"…That's not what I was going to ask."
Kaito rolled his eyes.
"Shouldn't you be glued to Shisui right now?"
He was worried that the moment Itachi loosened his guard, Danzo would start pulling dirty tricks.
"Itachi, I really envy you for having such adorable little brotherrrrrrs."
Shisui appeared at the doorway, casually slinging an arm over Itachi's shoulder.
His smile froze the instant he saw Sasuke's appearance — perfectly mirroring Itachi's earlier reaction.
"Shisui-bro!"
Sasuke shouted excitedly and tried to charge over.
Thankfully, Itachi flicked his forehead and stopped him.
"Go wash up first."
"Don't be so reckless."
Shisui waved it off. "Itachi, you know I don't mind."
Amid the laughter, Sasuke finally headed to the bathroom.
Kaito kept throwing strange side-eyes at Itachi and Shisui the entire time.
And when he reached the dining table and saw it completely covered in sunny-side-up eggs…
His inner disbelief reached critical mass.
Kaito lifted his gaze and locked eyes with the slightly nervous Itachi.
Aside from the heavy dark circles, nothing seemed abnormal.
Did this guy secretly awaken something already?
Were these eggs fried with some forbidden technique or what?
Kaito's eyes kept darting between Itachi and Shisui suspiciously.
Feeling uncomfortable under the stare, Itachi wiped sweat from his forehead.
"Is… the food not to your taste?"
Kaito shook his head, then pointed straight at the two of them.
"Don't you think you're being… a little too close?"
Shisui: ???
Protecting Shisui closely was one thing.
But did they really need to sit shoulder-to-shoulder with elbows touching?
Was this some kind of Konoha bonding ritual?
Both of them immediately understood and subtly shifted their chairs apart.
Awkward silence followed.
After a few moments, Shisui broke the tension.
"Itachi, your little brotherrrrrr is really hard to deal with."
"And Kaito, if you don't hurry up, you're going to be late."
Itachi nodded and went to urge Sasuke in the bathroom.
"It's just school registration. I could technically skip—"
Kaito waved lazily.
He truly hadn't slept well last night and felt zero motivation.
Before he could finish his sentence—
The system's voice echoed inside his mind.
[Triggering Mission: Awaken Martial Soul]
[Mission: You have arrived in the Martial Soul World and reached the optimal age for awakening your Martial Soul. Go to the village entrance and find a Great Soul Master to awaken it.]
Kaito instantly summoned the system interface and reread it several times.
After cultivation worlds, fox spirits, and sentient plants…
He'd thought he'd developed immunity to nonsense.
Turns out he was still naïve.
System, do you even hear yourself?!
Awaken Martial Soul? Find a Great Soul Master at the village entrance?
I see you're courting death.
Then his eyes slid down to the reward.
[Reward: "Hidden Weapons Manual"][暗器宝典]
Kaito's attitude flipped instantly.
Ahem.
Perhaps his earlier tone had been a bit inappropriate.
This reward was perfect for an Uchiha.
This mission was wonderful.
Extremely reasonable.
Not abstract at all.
"Kaito, what are you spacing out for?"
Sasuke's voice snapped him back to reality.
Itachi and Shisui also looked toward him.
"Oh—coming."
Kaito stuffed a few mouthfuls of breakfast into his mouth, grabbed his shoes, and bolted outside.
He didn't know exactly how this mission would complete yet—
But he had a very strong suspicion:
Awakening Martial Soul = Ninja Academy registration.
…Probably.
