Chapter 20 - Chapter 10 – Two Houses, One Bond

Morning arrived quietly in the Sign mansion.

Najma woke to unfamiliar stillness.

No clatter of utensils.

No distant voices arguing about tea.

Just soft curtains moving with the breeze and a room that still felt too large for one person.

She sat up slowly.

This was Ranveer's house.

Her house now.

Ranveer was already awake.

He stood near the window, phone in hand, speaking in a low voice.

"Yes… reschedule it," he said calmly.

"No, today stays clear."

He ended the call when he noticed her stirring.

"Good morning," he said.

Najma nodded. "Good morning."

There was no awkwardness.

Just newness.

She stepped into the washroom, changed into a simple sari chosen for her by Sasha the night before, and tied her hair neatly.

When she came out, Ranveer paused.

Not staring.

Not commenting.

Just noticing.

Breakfast was served downstairs.

Only the Sign family was present.

Kapoor read the newspaper.

Sasha sat composed, dignified.

Shruti and Jodha spoke softly among themselves.

Najma greeted them respectfully.

"Good morning."

Sasha looked up. "Did you sleep well?"

"Yes," Najma replied honestly.

Ranveer pulled out the chair beside him.

A small gesture.

But it grounded her.

At the Takur house, across the city—

Twinkle pushed her plate away dramatically.

"She didn't even call," she complained.

Saraswati smiled knowingly. "She's adjusting."

Takur folded his paper. "New house. New rules."

Twinkle crossed her arms. "Still my sister."

Back at the Sign mansion, Najma excused herself after breakfast.

"I'd like to visit my parents' house today," she said softly.

Ranveer didn't hesitate. "I'll have the car ready."

She looked at him, surprised. "You don't have to come."

"I know," he replied. "But I want to."

The drive across Mumbai was quiet.

Familiar streets slowly replaced unfamiliar ones.

When the Takur house finally appeared, Najma's chest tightened slightly.

Twinkle was the first to open the door.

She froze for half a second—

Then threw herself forward.

"Sister!"

Najma hugged her tightly. "I'm here."

Twinkle pulled back, inspecting her closely. "You look… okay."

Najma smiled. "I am."

Saraswati's eyes filled with relief when she saw her.

Takur nodded with quiet approval.

"You're welcome anytime," Saraswati said firmly.

Najma nodded. "I know."

Ranveer stayed a respectful distance behind.

Takur noticed.

And, for the first time, truly saw him—not as a powerful name, but as a man who knew when to step back.

When it was time to leave, Twinkle held Najma's hand.

"You'll come again tomorrow."

Najma smiled. "Soon."

Ranveer added calmly, "Whenever she wants."

Twinkle smirked. "Good answer."

As the car pulled away, Najma looked back at the Takur house.

Then forward, toward the Sign mansion.

Two houses.

Two families.

And somehow—

She belonged to both.
