Chapter 91 - The Nocturne Gates.

The gates of the Nocturne Estate did not open like ordinary gates.

They responded.

Massive black iron structures engraved with faint gold runes stood taller than most city walls. The moment Eryx approached, the sigils along their surface flickered to life not in warning, but in recognition.

Then slowly…

The gates parted.

A deep mechanical sigh echoed through the air as if the estate itself was exhaling after a long sleep.

Beyond them

A world unfolded.

The First Impression

Riven didn't speak.

Neither did most of the group.

Because there was nothing immediate to say.

The estate stretched farther than sight could comfortably measure. Rolling green fields merged into structured landscapes, carefully designed rather than naturally grown. Everything had purpose. Everything had order.

To the left

Massive sparring arenas carved into open ground. Some were circular, others segmented, all reinforced with barrier runes still faintly glowing from recent use. Fighters trained in controlled duels, their movements sharp even from a distance.

To the right

Endless horse ranches. Not simple stables, but engineered breeding grounds for war-grade steeds. The animals were larger, faster, and visibly trained to respond to aura pressure.

Further beyond

Livestock fields. Clean, organized, abundant.

And even further

Children.

Playing.

Laughing.

Training.

Some sparring lightly under supervision.

Even their play carried discipline.

Roran blinked slowly.

"…This is a noble estate?"

Soren didn't answer.

Because the word estate suddenly felt too small.

The True Scale of House Nocturne

This was not just wealth.

This was infrastructure.

Control disguised as comfort.

House Nocturne was not merely rich they were embedded into every layer of Third Order life.

Velmora might manipulate perception.

Duskryn might control hunts.

Umbraxis might control shadows.

But Nocturne?

They controlled stability.

Approaching the Mansion

At the center of everything stood the Nocturne Mansion.

It was not tall like a castle.

It did not need to be.

Instead, it expanded outward in layered architecture wide halls, interconnected wings, and elevated terraces. Dark stone mixed with reflective silver panels that caught sunlight like liquid metal.

It felt less like a home…

And more like a command center disguised as one.

As the carriages rolled closer, more figures became visible.

Guards in structured black armor.

Staff moving with precise coordination.

Visitors standing at curated distances, as if even curiosity here had rules.

The Waiting Figures

At the main entrance

A group had gathered.

Eryx was the first to dismount.

He didn't hesitate.

He walked forward

And embraced a woman standing near the steps.

She smiled before he even reached her.

Diana Nocturne

Her presence was calm, but unmistakably strong. One hand rested lightly against her side

Her stomach slightly raised.

Pregnancy visible.

Life continuing even in a house built on war and shadows.

Eryx held her gently.

"I missed you," he said quietly.

She leaned into him slightly.

"I know," she replied.

No dramatics.

Just truth.

Lira's Entrance

A second figure stepped forward from the group.

Sharp posture.

Battle stance energy even while standing still.

Lira Moonshade

Second lieutenant of the third

She punched Eryx directly on the shoulder.

Hard.

"You absolute idiot," she snapped.

"Why the hell did you not take me with you?!"

Eryx didn't flinch.

"Queen's orders," he replied calmly.

"I went alone."

Lira clicked her tongue.

"Excuses."

But the irritation wasn't anger.

It was familiarity.

The Group Arrives

The carriage doors opened.

One by one, the group stepped out.

Astra first still visibly recovering but composed.

Nyss next eyes immediately scanning the estate, trying to understand where she had been brought.

Then

Riven.

The moment he stepped down

The atmosphere shifted.

Not dramatically.

But enough.

People noticed.

Whispers stopped mid-sentence.

Heads turned slightly.

Not fear.

Not hostility.

Recognition of something important arriving without announcement.

Lira's gaze locked onto him instantly.

"…So that's him."

Eryx's Declaration

Eryx turned toward the group.

His voice carried across the estate courtyard clearly.

"These people are my guests."

A pause.

"They are to be treated like family."

Then his hand moved slightly

Pointing at Riven.

"And this one…"

The silence tightened.

"…is Nocturne."

Riven frowned slightly.

"My surname is Thorn."

Eryx didn't even blink.

"Once Nocturne," he said simply,

"Always Nocturne."

He stepped closer and placed a firm hand on Riven's shoulder.

A grounding gesture.

Not forceful.

But absolute.

"Son of my lost sister, Tyrella Nocturne."

A beat.

"Treat him as you would treat me."

The Name That Shifted Everything

The moment Tyrella Nocturne was spoken

Something in the estate changed.

Subtle reactions rippled through the crowd.

Some guards stiffened.

Some nobles exchanged glances.

Not everyone knew everything.

But enough knew enough.

Riven didn't respond immediately.

His expression tightened slightly.

Not confusion.

Not shock.

Something closer to pressure.

Then The Unexpected Moment

A voice cut through the tension.

Casual.

Familiar.

Warm in a way that didn't match the formal atmosphere.

"Welcome home, sis."

Silence.

Absolute silence.

All eyes turned.

Lira Nocturne had walked forward this time toward Lyra.

Lyra froze.

"…Sis?"

The world seemed to pause.

Even Astra looked up.

Even Eryx remained still.

Lira smiled slightly.

"Yeah," she said.

"The black sheep version of the family, anyway."

A pause.

"I left when I was fifteen."

She tilted her head.

"Joined the military. Stayed there. You disappeared into whatever chaos you chose."

Lyra finally found her voice.

"…You're Lira Moonshade ?"

Lira shrugged.

"Unfortunately."

The Emotional Collision

Lyra exhaled slowly.

Then her expression shifted.

Tightened.

"…You're the reason I left."

That landed harder than expected.

Lira blinked.

Then smiled.

"Oh?"

Lyra continued.

"You always hovered over me. Controlled everything I did. Every step. Every mistake."

Her voice lowered slightly.

"I couldn't breathe."

Lira tilted her head.

"…And now?"

A pause.

Lyra met her eyes.

"…Now I remember why."

Silence.

Then

Lira laughed softly.

"Aw," she said.

"Isn't that cute."

Not mocking.

Not cruel.

Just honest acceptance of old history.

Eryx Ends It

Eryx raised his hand slightly.

"Alright."

His voice cut through the moment cleanly.

"Come in, all of you."

He turned toward the mansion.

"Before the entire estate decides to start a reunion war on my front steps."

A few faint chuckles broke the tension.

Slowly

The group moved forward.

Into the Nocturne Estate.

Final Atmosphere

As Riven walked deeper into the grounds, he felt it again.

The weight.

Not hostile.

Not dangerous.

But dense.

This place had history.

Power.

Connections.

And beneath all of it

Answers he had not yet reached.

Nyss walked slightly closer to him without thinking.

Riven noticed.

But didn't move away.

Ahead

The Nocturne Mansion waited.

And somewhere inside it

The past he was born from was finally beginning to wake up.
