Chapter 254 - Chapter 254: Shattering the Personality

After locating Mordo, Karl and the others did not rush to deal with him.

Karl understood why Mordo had remained in Africa.

It was one of the most chaotic regions on Earth. The population was vast, and deaths often went unnoticed.

Even without Mordo's interference, people died there every day.

For someone like Mordo, who cultivated the Law of the Soul, such a chaotic place was ideal.

Karl believed Mordo was unlikely to leave anytime soon.

Therefore, they temporarily remained at the Mutant School and prepared to resolve Jean's problem first.

After all, this was not merely a matter concerning the Main Universe.

The power contained within Jean's body was far too great.

Once the restraints collapsed and that immense power erupted, the entire Multiverse would be affected.

Karl's universe would not be spared either.

Karl would never allow such a thing to happen.

It was better to resolve this problem first.

At the very least, it was not particularly difficult for Karl.

However, out of caution, Professor X decided to wait for a while before proceeding.

Karl could understand that.

He had appeared out of nowhere, so it was perfectly reasonable for Professor X not to trust him completely.

They remained at the Mutant School for several days.

Karl carefully observed the mutants there, each of whom possessed different abilities.

Although their powers seemed extraordinarily varied, he discovered that very few of them were useful to him.

Only a handful truly interested him, such as Iceman's cryokinesis, Rogue's power absorption, and the powerful defensive barriers possessed by one of the other mutants.

Most of the remaining abilities were of no use to him.

There were only a few truly powerful mutants, and they were exceedingly rare.

Only Omega-level mutants possessed power that could genuinely be called formidable.

Karl spent his time waiting while considering whose abilities he should learn.

Meanwhile, Professor X had not remained idle. He had contacted someone to assist them.

Two days later, Karl was summoned from the reception room.

"Karl, allow me to introduce someone."

"This is Dr. Reed Richards. He has come to provide us with technical assistance," Professor X said.

"I know him. Mister Fantastic."

"One of the smartest men on Earth."

Karl smiled as he spoke.

He certainly knew Reed Richards.

Reed was the leader of the Fantastic Four and one of the most intelligent people on Earth.

Compared with Reed, even Tony Stark fell somewhat short.

Although Reed's powers were not especially formidable in combat, his ability to alter his body's structure had also greatly enhanced his brain.

In a sense, his true intellect was far more frightening than his superpowers.

How could Tony Stark compare with that?

Some of the technology Reed had invented was even capable of threatening gods.

That alone demonstrated how extraordinary he was.

However, Reed's son was even more astonishing.

Franklin Richards was one of the most powerful beings in existence.

He had once reversed a timeline to save his parents.

He had even resurrected Galactus.

He possessed tremendous mastery over time, space, causality, and numerous other forces.

Karl felt that he absolutely had to maintain a good relationship with this family.

That child was simply too extraordinary.

As he thought about it, a smile unconsciously appeared on Karl's face.

Reed seemed somewhat overwhelmed by Karl's enthusiasm.

"You flatter me. My reputation is largely due to everyone's praise."

"I am not truly that remarkable."

Reed spoke very modestly.

"All right, Reed. There is no need to be so modest. You really are that impressive."

"Let us begin."

"Karl, do you need us to prepare anything?" Professor X asked.

"I do not need any preparations."

Karl's words carried a subtle implication.

Professor X and Reed both looked somewhat embarrassed.

Karl had treated them with complete openness and sincerity, yet they had still taken extensive precautions against him.

It was admittedly rather awkward.

However, they could not afford to abandon their vigilance.

Their caution was precisely why they had survived for so many years.

The three men silently understood one another.

The group entered a specially prepared room.

Three bright rings could be faintly seen surrounding a platform inside.

Jean was already there, while her boyfriend, Cyclops, stood beside her and offered reassurance.

When they entered, Cyclops nodded.

"Karl, I'm counting on you."

Cyclops gave Karl a deep look before turning and leaving the room.

"Then let us begin."

Karl shrugged.

He looked at the visibly nervous Jean and snapped his fingers.

Before Jean could react, she fell unconscious.

Karl's immense Mental Force erupted and poured directly into her mind.

Professor X and Reed stared in stunned disbelief.

Such powerful Mental Force!

Even though they were not the targets of Karl's power, its terrifying intensity still left them deeply shaken.

Reed suddenly felt that all their precautions had been rather meaningless.

Karl was simply too powerful.

No matter what he intended to do, they had no ability to resist him.

Reed shook his head.

He and Professor X watched Karl expectantly.

Meanwhile, Karl's vast Mental Force suddenly began to tremble as though it had encountered a violent storm.

His Mental Force had collided directly with Jean's.

Two personalities existed within her mind.

One was Jean's kind and compassionate primary personality.

The other was the terrifying personality born from Charles's years of suppression and the immense power within her—the Dark Phoenix.

Together, the two personalities shared control over one of the most terrifying powers in existence: the Phoenix Force.

Fortunately, Professor X's restraints had still served some purpose.

The Dark Phoenix personality was not particularly strong.

At least, it was nothing significant to Karl.

Even so, he needed to proceed cautiously.

He was concerned that the Phoenix Force within Jean might spiral out of control.

Therefore, after destroying the Dark Phoenix personality, he would need to establish a new set of restraints.

This would allow Jean's primary personality to absorb the escaping power gradually and eventually gain control over the Phoenix Force.

Karl's Mental Force surged.

His immense powers of soul and mind formed countless transparent seals.

"This should eliminate every possible risk."

"Once I destroy that personality, Jean's primary personality will be able to absorb the escaping psychic power steadily."

"Eventually, she will gain control over the Phoenix Force."

With a thought, Karl unleashed his immense Mental Force.

It surged forward like a roaring tsunami.

The vast psychic force crushed toward the Dark Phoenix personality.

"No!"

Only when Karl's terrifying Mental Force descended upon her did the Dark Phoenix realize what was happening.

She released a furious roar.

But it was already too late.

Karl's Mental Force was unimaginably powerful.

He could easily destroy even Jean's existing primary personality, much less the secondary Dark Phoenix personality that had been suppressed for so many years.

In an instant, the Dark Phoenix personality was annihilated.

It shattered into countless fragments.

Those fragments of thought dispersed throughout Jean's mental space.

The Dark Phoenix personality completely dissolved.
