The first rule venom learned about Earth was this:
Everyone is hungry.
Eddie brock was hungry for redemption.
The city was hungry for blood.
And venom\ venom was hungry for truth.
They felt it before they saw it.
A wrongness in the concrete. A vibration that din't belongs to traffic or tarane. The symbiote coiled tighter around Eddie's ribs,a low growl echoing inside his skull.
Not human, venom wishpered. Not ours.
The alley ahead split open like a mouth.
Something crowled out.
It looked liked venom / black, wet, alive/ but thinner stretched too tight over sharp bones. Its eyes were wrong. Too many. Fleeckering like broken screens.
Eddie swallowe." Tell me that's not".
Another of us , venom finished. But starving.
The creature lunged.
Venom erupted out ward, teeth first, slamming it into the brick wall. The impact cracked mortar. Screams echoed Eddie wasnt sure whose.
The thing hissed in a dozen voices. "You bonded....
To failure".
Venom froze.
Eddie fe lt the word hit harder than fist. Old fear stirred the once he kept burried. The voice sounded like everything he'd ever been told.
Washed up. Useless replacable.
Venom roared .
We chose Eddie.
The symbiote wrapped tighter, stronger , angrier than ever before. Eddies fear ,burned away replaced by something steadier. Trust.
They fought like a single thought / no hesitation, no doub.fangs tore through shadows.they alley shook . When it was over, the thing dissolved into Ash that smelled like regrate
Silence followed.
Eddie leaned against the wall breathing hard "you... You meant that right ?
Venoms voice softened , deep and certain.
You are not our host.
You are our partner.
Somewhere above them ,sirens wailed. The city was stil hungry .
Venom smiled.
