Choza raised one hand to calm his students, mostly Guy. "Well, we will be training, but not running around the village. At least not today."
"Normally, Genin teams are first taught teamwork by their Jonin sensei but your current teamwork is good enough. So I have decided to teach you something that would individually make each one of you stronger. I gave it a long thought about it after mentally reviewing the genin test."
He looked at each of them in turn. "One thing that I think would be very good for all three of you is learning chakra augmentation. It is basically using chakra to enhance the strength of your punches, kicks, and overall body. It is also the foundation for the body flicker jutsu. The advanced use of this art is augmenting your weapons. You can flow chakra through a blade or a thrown weapon to make it hit harder, cut deeper, or fly faster."
He pointed at Guy first. "Guy, you rely on taijutsu. Chakra augmentation will help you hit even harder and move even faster. Your kicks will break through defenses that stop normal strikes. You could use that to punch through an earth wall jutsu or maybe kick a fireball with minimal damage to your leg. Though, I would not recommend it."
Then he looked at Shunsui. "Shunsui, you could use chakra augmentation to put more power behind your sword strikes. Your blades already lethal and you are proficient enough with Kenjutsu. Add chakra flow, and they will cut through armor like butter."
Finally, he turned to Genma. "Genma, it will not only help you in taijutsu. You could chakra augment your throwing weapons, including senbon, to increase their piercing power. Those chakra-augmented senbon might even pierce my thick skin. Hahaha!"
The three genin looked at him awkwardly. Choza's laugh faded when he realized the joke had not landed quite right.
He coughed into his fist. "Well... anyway. We would start with chakra control first. It is a basic requirement to learn chakra augmentation. You do not want to put too much chakra into a body part and explode it, after all."
"And Chakra control would also help you conserve chakra for ninjutsu when you would learn it later or even iryõ ninjutsu or genjutsu if any one of you tried to go in that direction. It would also help you walk on walls, trees, water and almost every other surface. A skill that every shinobi needs."
Guy and Genma nodded seriously. Shunsui spoke up. "I have learned tree walking and water walking. Is that enough chakra control for this?"
Choza looked a little surprised. He studied Shunsui for a second, then nodded. "That is more than enough. Good work. Most genin struggle with water walking. It's a suprise that you already have learned it."
Choza formed hand seals quickly. A puff of smoke appeared beside him. An earth clone rose from the ground. It looked exactly like Choza.
Choza pointed to the clone. "It will guide you two with tree walking. Guy, Genma, follow it and practice until you can walk up and down without falling. Focus on steady flow. Do not use too much chakra or too little."
Then he turned to Shunsui. "Shunsui, you should come with me."
Shunsui pushed off the tree and stood up slowly. He adjusted his straw hat and followed his sensei toward the other side of the training ground.
Guy and Genma watched them go for a moment before turning to the earth clone. The clone gave a small nod and started walking toward the nearest tall tree.

Shunsui was pretty happy with the training regime that Choza had given them. He walked behind his sensei.
'The training regime is good,' Shunsui thought as he watched Choza's broad back ahead of him. 'Chakra augmentation is something that would make the entire team better hitters. It would help us all. It would also force everyone to learn better chakra control. And better chakra control helps with everything else.'
'When we finally learn new ninjutsu in the future, we will not waste chakra. Even basic shinobi arts like substitution or clones become smoother with good control and we would be able to save our chakra and not waste it. Sensei knows what he is doing.'
Shunsui smiled faintly. 'At least sensei is training us properly. Unlike Kakashi, who started his team seriously only when they were on a dangerous mission and fighting a high-level threat. Kakashi let them struggle for weeks with teamwork games before teaching them anything real. Choza is different as he saw our weaknesses right away and has decided to work on them from day one. That is how a good teacher should be. No waiting for life-or-death moments to start building strength.'
Besides, Shunsui was happy with learning chakra augmentation for his own reasons. 'With this, my kenjutsu would become lethal. I would not be handicapped by an opponent who has higher raw strength. Right now, a bigger or stronger fighter can block my strikes or push me back even if my technique is better.'
'But if I flow chakra through my blades and into my arms as well as my blades, every swing will carry more power. And as for wasting chakra on this and not on my Shikai, my reserves are already too big to worry about that. I could keep a game running for minutes or hours without feeling empty. Augmentation is just a small extra draw. Nothing I cannot handle.'
Shunsui made a quiet guess about why his chakra pool was so massive. He believed it came from being the reincarnation of Kyoraku Shunsui from the Bleach world. Similar to how he got a similar appearance.
Somehow, the amount of chakra he had matched the huge reaitsu his counterpart once possessed. Reaitsu was spiritual pressure, the raw energy of the soul. Chakra was physical and spiritual energy combined. It made sense that the two would scale similarly.
And as he increased his physical body, his chakra reserves would increase as the spiritual energy merged with physical energy to form more chakra.
'Whoever reincarnated me probably needed to give me such large reserves,' he thought.
'Otherwise, I could never make full use of Katen Kyokotsu and its abilities. Summoning the blades alone takes a decent amount. Releasing shikai costs more. Keeping a game active drains steadily. Without big reserves, I would run dry after one or two tricks. But with this much chakra, I can play as long as I want. It is almost unfair. Almost.'
