Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: The Feeling That Followed

She tried to forget it.

That moment from the evening.

That almost-meeting.

That feeling that rushed back without warning.

"It wasn't him," she told herself.

More than once.

More than she needed to.

But her heart didn't listen.

Because something about that second felt too real.

Too close.

Too familiar to ignore.

The next morning felt heavier than usual.

Not because something had happened—

But because something had almost happened.

She walked through the same paths again, but slower this time.

More aware.

More careful.

As if she didn't want to miss anything again.

Her eyes moved through the crowd quietly.

Not searching like before.

But not completely letting go either.

"What if it really was him…?"

The thought returned softly.

Uninvited.

Unanswered.

She stopped for a moment, standing still among moving people.

Everyone around her had somewhere to go.

Something to do.

Someone to meet.

And her?

She was waiting.

For something she couldn't even be sure of.

A small sigh escaped her lips.

"I'm doing it again…" she whispered.

Trying to hold on.

Trying to believe.

Trying to make sense of something that had no clear meaning.

She looked down at her hands.

Calm.

Still.

But her heart wasn't.

It beat faster whenever she remembered that moment.

That feeling.

That presence she couldn't explain.

"What if I just imagined it…?" she thought.

That possibility scared her more than anything.

Because if it wasn't real…

Then what was she holding onto?

She closed her eyes for a second.

Taking a slow breath.

Trying to quiet everything inside her.

But even in that silence…

One truth stayed.

She hadn't moved on.

Not really.

That one moment had returned.

Not fully.

Not clearly.

But enough…

To bring everything back.

And this time—

It didn't feel like just a memory.

It felt like something that was trying…

To come back.

To be continued…
